Ok.. I asked before but I forgot which thread it was.. lol I want to talk to some one about my personal problems, and see IF I have a mental illness or something etc etc. I'm not mental... or am I . But anyway, do I go to a Psychiatrist? Psychologist? or Therapist?
It's possibly best to start with your medical doctor. If your issues are mainly physical, you're going to want to treat them physically, and your doctor can help determine if that's the case. If they aren't, your doctor should be able to refer you to someone. Lex
Typically a psychiatrist does diagnosis and management of pharmacology only. A psychologist/therapist provides diagnosis and psychotherapy, which sounds like that it what you want.
I don't want to be on medication or anything, at least I don't think i do. Just need to like.. speak to and diagnose my problems or something, nothing physical.
Professionally, I think no matter which you go to, they'd be able to refer you to the appropriate profession if they find that they are not suited to handle your problem no?
If you're pretty sure your issues are social rather than chemical, then a psychologist or a therapist is the place to go. Lex
