I know a lot of my friends have during hard workouts, but I never have personally. I think it's just one of those things that happens to some people and not to others. One of my friends would puke during every workout. We eventually got used to it lol
I've never heard of it after a work out, but I remember in year 7, 8 and 9, we would have to do cross country of about 1 and a half miles, in about 15 minutes, and normally a couple of unhealthy people at the back would throw up, understandably.
It happens to me all the time. Whenever I'm dancing (my form of workout), I always throw up - and not just a bit, A LOT! I don't know why it happens.
No, I pass out first. I've got low blood pressure, but a strong stomach. Never throw up, felt like it a few times when I was on swim team though.
I throw up after cross country running alot. I love the sport, but I'm just very heat intolerant, so I get very sick in the heat after running :icon_sad:
at least the water is clorinated to help you wash all the vomit germs off if you did chunk in the deep end.
We see people who are not used to intense workouts (particularly when fall sports practice starts after summer recess). As they get back into shape, it gets better although in time as the body adjusts. We really don't know what causes it. The theory is that blood gets shunted from the gastrointestinal tract to the muscles and this causes nausea and ocassionally vomiting. There are a few things you can do to help avoid this. If you're starting an exercise routine, start early and start slow. Work your way up with increasing intensity to allow your body to adjust. Also avoiding quick stopping during exercise- allow yourself time to cool down at the end of the workout. Don't eat too close to the workout. And avoid excess water consumption during the workout. It should get better as you continue working out and get back in shape, though.
Maybe it was something you ate? I threw up once because I drank a huge glass of orange juice right before running.
I have, but not in the same kind of way. I have oscillopsia, which means that when I walk or run my field of vision kind of jumps with each step (it's like when someone walks or runs with a camera and the film is all jumpy), and I can literally get motion sick through running.
When I was in middle school I had a very bad respiratory problem, and even with a note from the doctor, the PE teachers made me run. It resulted in me vomiting, and my mom got super pissed at the school. lol Fortunately, I've overcome that problem and am currently working on making the record boards at my school!!! XD
I've felt like I was going to puke after a tough mountainbike ride, but haven't (yet.) I plan on doing it in the near future, though.
No, and I am fat and out of shape. O_O I mean..I've ran for 15 minutes straight in gym class at a set speed by the gym teacher. I felt like I was going to die afterwards, but I didn't feel like I was going to puke. Maybe I am just lucky like that..?
I've puked while running during races twice - first at the end of a 5 mile race last summer, and then in June this year I actually had to stop in the middle of a 10k race to puke because I went off too fast.
I would puke after 30 minutes on the rowing machine, when I did rowing. Would also puke during cross-country, but that was due to a heavy post-nasal-drip. Now I smoke 2 packs a day and cough up phlegm or throw up constantly. I'm quitting again. I have to, it's too disgusting.
