    I was talking to my mom and she gave me the most odd ball home remedy for a soar throat I have heard of.

    2 Shots Whiskey
    2 Shots Hot Water
    As much cayenne pepper as you can handle

    Apparently it works wonders. I can see the benefits of the cayenne pepper but not the whiskey but I am of age, and will give it a whirl. :thumbsup:

    Any other suggestions? I'm open to try new things so long as it isn't the most foul tasting thing on the planet.

    Some remedies I use:

    =Hot Beverage
    -Slices of lemon
    -Hot water
    -Cayenne Pepper

    =Tea=
    -Green Tea
    -boiled water
    -Slices of cut up ginger root

    =Boil a pot of water
    -cover half of it with a towel
    -put your face up to the side of the uncovered pot and breathe in

    =Eat a tablespoon of wasabi

    =Eat a Chili pepper (drink milk afterwards)

    Fisherman's Friend. They aren't some special mixture of honey and whiskey or whatever, but they work insanely well. Every time I have a sore throat I take one and I don't think it's ever let me down. These will do the trick, but I warn you, they are probably one of the worst things you will ever taste. They taste really bad, but they get the job done. You can probably find them at your local pharmacy/store or whatever.

    Tried the the hot water, lemon juice, and honey. Gross but effective. I say gross because I hate warm water, and I hate honey, haha. Honestly though, I was shocked at how well whiskey, hot water, and cayenne pepper powder worked (and for how long).

    Some friends stopped by and suggested the green tea/ginger root combo but I passed. The next soar throat I get I will give it a whirl (assuming it's gone today - we will see)

    Woke up today and my tonsils are much smaller and I am feeling worlds better. Granted, I slept for 10 hours and have been drinking water like it's my job.

    Hmmm my remedy book says many things... but there's kinda a running theme of Honey, Lemon/Lime and Root Ginger....

    I normally use the Hot Water, Lemon Juice & Honey thing, though whenever I get tonsillitis (since I'm kinda' prone) I usually just live off Tomato Soup & Chicken Soup for a week since it's easy to cook and eat.

    Sounds fun! :grin:

    Hot Green Tea with honey and lemon.

    The heat will help sooth the pain. Honey is a natrual antiseptic. Lemon will give you some Vit C. Green tea is a great antioxidant

    THIS. Buckley's too. You can get it with Pseudoephedrine and Dextromethorpan, I find it works like a charm. Fisherman's Friend is for when you're at work or on the go. :slight_smile:

    I may be insane.. but it works for me! :icon_bigg Not only does it clean the throat, but it clears your sinuses. Have some tissues on hand.
