So usually when my throat starts hurting it's a sign that I'm getting sick, so when it started hurting to swallow I just assumed I was coming down with a cold and shrugged it off. This morning though when I woke up I realized the pain from swallowing was different than usual. Usually when I get a cold the throat pain is more of a rough feeling. This pain is more sharp and bruise-like, and instead of in the throat, it's more like in the back left-side of my mouth. It also hurts in my left ear for some reason. (Note: When I say left, I mean my left) Things that cause the pain: Swallowing Breathing through the mouth Talking Moving the tongue Coughing Any ideas on what this is? D: It really hurts!
That happened to me and it ended up that I had an impacted wisdom tooth. First off have you had your wisdom teeth removed and second does your gums hurt at all back there?
