    Hey everyone,

Just wondering, what is involved in an STD test. I have never been to get one (as I have no reason to yet) but just for future info, what should I expect. I don't do well with giving blood so is that involved? 'Cause that makes me nervous if it is... :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

    Thanks!

Er well not too sure for guys, but i know for women theres only a couple of STDs that can be checked with a blood test. The rest require a smear test, not sure what the equivalent is for a guy.

    It depends on the test.

The easiest and most complete test for men involves a blood test. The one test that requires a blood sample is the test for syphilis. HIV can be tested with saliva but the accuracy of that test hasn't been studied, so quite often blood testing is preferred. For men, gonorrhea can be tested via a urine sample or a swab test if the infection site is the anus or throat.
