I've been noticing over the last say... month or so that I'm shaving off my facial hair more frequently. By that I mean, it gets to the beginning-to-be-scruffy length when I start to dislike it quicker than usual. I've been shaving regularly since I was say... 17/18 or so, and it's usually taken a little less than a week for it to be time to shave again. The last few weeks, it's been about a little over 4 days.

I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing beyond the fact I don't think I'm a guy that looks good with facial hair, so it's more annoying to shave it slightly more frequently. But is this something I need to be concerned about? Anything that would've led to this? I don't think there's been any radical changes in my routine lately either.

    I shave every other day..
I'd say this isn't something to be concerned about.. Maybe some changes in hormone levels or something.. If you find it annoying to shave more often, maybe you can buy an electric razor? (if you don't have one already) I have a straight as well as an electric razor, I use the latter when I'm in a hurry or lazy..

Apparently facial hair grows a bit faster in the summer, as it's linked to an increase in a hormone derived from testosterone, which is at its highest in summer (thank you wikipedia).

Also you might still be at that age where facial hair production is still "ramping up", based on your average weekly shaving ritual. Obviously that varies from one guy to another - some guys could shave twice a day, others can skip a day or three before it starts to be noticeable.

I used to shave every other day, but as I've gotten older I have to trim my facial hair every morning..sometimes in the evening too to get rid of 5 oclock shadow...it's just part of getting older.

I was still getting facial hair in new places at your age (yes, I am allowed to say "at your age" because I am technically older than you :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:). Some of us just finish puberty later than others. It's probably nothing to worry about.

I loathe facial hair. I wish I could get it to stay gone. I shave twice a day just to eb sure it doesn't show, and I've waxed at times where I could afford it.

This. I just started getting chest hair within the past 8 months or so...

I shave every other week in the summer. In the winter I do about once a month. My facial hair is almost nonexistent, but if I don't shave periodically my acne starts going berserk.

According to your profile, you are 20. Although the majority of changes of puberty are likely past, you're still probably going through some. The body often continues changes well into the 20s. Although obviously a different statistic, the link below is also related to pubertal changes. So, I wouldn't be surprised if you managed to get a little harrier as you get a little older.

20 was the age when my facial hair increased by a lot. And it still is. Before 20 it wasn't nearly as big of a deal. Right now I just shave 3 times a week.

The interesting thing about body hair is that it's there from the time we are children. It's just very fine and usually very blond.

Then the hormones kick in during puberty.

Both male and female sex hormones trigger body hair to thicken, get darker and grow faster. This doesn't happen overnight, though.

So, men can expect their beards to continue to thicken well into their late twenties. Chest hair can begin as early as age twelve and may continue to get thicker into your forties. The same is true if your are genetically inclined to back hair, upper arm hair, neck hair or hair on your ears.

Hmm, well thanks everyone for the replies. On the plus side, maybe this means I'll grow some facial hair that doesn't look terrible on me. I guess it's not all bad :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
