I´ve read alot about both, and the consensus is that interval training or HIIT is better. But I wanted to ask for your opinion. I would like to look slim, yet toned... like not bulky, but with muscle..... kind of like this: [removed] I know that cardio is just a part of it, but what type of cardio would do the job better? interval training or steady cardio??
(Probably not allowed that picture here ) Either type of cardio will work to attain that type of body, but you would need to do some resistance exercise (i.e. muscle building) as well. Appearance-wise, cardio will only drop your bodyfat, which alone won't give you that body. As for which would be best for dropping bodyfat, HIIT is better if you do it properly but doing it properly is very difficult (it's called high intensity for a reason). For this reason, for most people steady exercise over a longer period is going to be more effective than HIIT, simply because they will wear themselves out with HIIT, stop prematurely, and get little out of it. If you want to try it though, perhaps do one or two days a week on HIIT, and the rest with steady exercise.
Why wouldnt it be permited? he's just shirtless  But anyway thx for the response :icon_bigg: and about the other type of exercises, will pushups and pullups and planks help?
It's not that he's shirtless, it is who is in the photo . Yes they would help, but you'd have to do more than those three. You'd need to do weight bearing exercises targeting the chest and abdominals - the bodyweight resistance from pushups and planks probably wouldn't be enough to get that definition.
Unfortunately, because he's an adult film performer, we can't allow the image. You can post a similar picture of a celebrity- Zac Efron, Sam Huntington, Tyler Posey, etc to illustrate what you're wanting from your workout. These celebrities generally have trainers who work them out several hours a day. It takes intense cardio and resistance training to get into that kind of shape. There programs like P90X or Insanity that will give you this kind of result but again, it takes a lot of work and commitment to get there.
I bet to differ... how do martial artists work out without weights? XD if you do a google search or two, there are some bodyweight work out and varieties. if you want to work your full body and burn some fat, you could try bodyweight interval training... EDIT: if you want to look tone... you can mix up bodyweight and weights perhaps? lol
I have a really unscientific way of working out. It's called running for as long as I can until I start feeling uncomfortable.
You'll never get very large through bodyweight exercises alone - your muscles simply won't grow because they can already support your bodyweight. Unless you are pushing your muscles past what they normally have to deal with then they will stay the same size. Martial artists who don't do any resistance exercise are generally pretty small and wiry - they are defined because they have very low bodyfat, but their muscles aren't very large. Most martial artists will supplement their training with resistance exercise. And anyway I know straight from the horse's mouth that the pictured person does a lot more than bodyweight exercise to look like that .
that's why i add edit of mix of weight and bodyweights lol. bodyweight primarily to put your muscles into function and not like, muscles for show (different purposes people work out hahahahaaha)
lol  ---------- Post added 27th Nov 2012 at 09:28 AM ---------- Sorry :eusa_doh: :icon_redf Is he ok? he´s just a model from what I know lol I know he´s not that similar to the last one, but its kind of what I meant, you can see his abs and he has defined pecs, but he´s very thin, he´s not bulky. And what I fear of doing alot of weights is that I will get very bulky
Interval training is straight up harder than normal cardio, which makes it better. It hits more diverse muscle groups.
Yeah I don't think Francisco has done any porn You don't need to worry about getting too bulky... you don't just keep putting on muscle indefinitely. You will only keep increasing in size if you keep increasing the weight that you are lifting. If you get to a point where you don't want to get any bigger, then just don't increase the weight any more.
