So, my partner has just hit her three month post op date, and while super excited, she has had a slight complication this evening

she got a dilator stuck.... more precisely, the largest dilator, stuck in her neo vagina.

while it came out after a bit of tugging, she now has some discomfort and a touch of pain, but no bleeding and no abnormal discharge......

what do we do if this happens again?

i am worried that we will end up hurting her if she gets another stuck

    Thanks everyone

Would using more lube help for prevention? I don't understand how it could have gotten stuck, unless she has an unusual dilator that is hooked or something, so I assume the problem was lack of lubrication?

i wasnt in the room when she did her last dilation, but i was around for the aftermath of trying to get it out.... i am thinking lack of lube is the reason for its stuckness.....

thanks Bree..... i will have to mention to her that more lube is key

Lube is always the answer, haha...I've heard people who don't experience penetration be told to imagine trying to go down a water slide without the water. It doesn't work.

Can someone inform me of what a dilator is....

I'm far too frightened to google it.

You need to contact your physician. The point of the dilator is to gently, over time, stretch and expand the tissues. If the dilator is getting stuck and is causing pain when removing it, the physician may want to do a physical exam to ensure that there's not been a build up of scar tissue and that the capacity for tissue expansion has been limited.

    @Kara

She contacted her physician in Montreal and when she told them, they knew what had happened. Lube (about 4 times more than what she was using) was recommended, and to take it easy for the next few days with Tylenol to control pain.

Its weird, I was freaking out and wanted to take her to emergency when it wouldn't come out, but Montreal said it happens and as long as there is no blood or discharge, she is fine. i have her making a follow up appointment with her trans health specialist in the morning, as i know he is booking into February now :frowning2:

    Thanks for the feedback everyone

    Update

So she just finished dilating, and everything went much much better. she used more lube and that seemed to do the trick.

Dilator cam out just fine, no sticking at all.

    Thanks for the concern everyone!
