Does anyone know, what could cause a feeling of tightness in your stomach area, becoming painful whenever you move or agitate it?

Yesterday morning I woke up with this feeling, I thought it would go away after a day, but it still kept me up last night because I felt pain every time I rolled over or changed position, and it's the same now.

When I walk I have to try to hold my upper body completely still, slowly walking like an old man, lest I double over from the pain. I told my parents but they just yelled at me that I was making this up as an excuse to not go to a neighbor's house for a barbecue.

It almost feels like a muscular pain; trying to sit up from laying down, like doing a sit-up, is especially painful. But I haven't really done any exercise or lifted anything that I would think would cause this kind of pain.

    Hey, thanks for that! (*hug*)

Unfortunately I don't know which of those things it could be. I really hope it's not one of the more severe things. :icon_eek:

I was hoping this would just go away, but it keeps coming back.

It kept me up a bit last night, but now in the last few hours it's gotten really bad, I don't even want to move, my stomach feels like a lead block, it hurts so much to sit up, and now the tightness is accompanied by nausea, dizziness, fatigue, and altered mental status.

The mental status is kinda similar to how I felt a few weeks ago when I went to the hospital, I feel kinda as if I were drunk, I'm kinda on a short fuse and snapping at people, and dropping cuss words with my family without even thinking, which I never would normally do. I'm not thinking clearly or normally. That time at the hospital they had diagnosed me with hyponatremia and hypokalemia, but I ate a lot today, I can't imagine that again being the cause for this.

It's my freakin birthday and spent half the day feeling like absolute crap laying in bed with freakin thunderstorms outside, not even willing to roll over because of this pain and tightness. :tears:

If I don't just drop dead at some point tonight, I think I'm going to have to go to a doctor, but does anyone have any idea what could be causing all this? How to stop this? :help:

I'd say your best bet is to just go see a doctor. I hope you feel better soon! Good luck!!! Happy birthday!

Thanks, yeah I think I'm going to have to go see a doctor. I don't even know who though, since I don't actually have a doctor since I stopped seeing my pediatrician. I'm not going back to the emergency room again though. I wish this would just go away.

Now I can't even focus on my mental problems without being distracted by physical pains. I wonder whether all these physical ailments possibly be triggered by depression associated with my birthday.

Exactly one year ago, I and a bunch of fellow students flew to Moscow to study abroad for the summer, celebrating my 22nd birthday the very night we got there, just a few days after I graduated college, exciting things; it seemed like my life was just starting. What a difference a year makes, "celebrating" my 23rd birthday laying in bed sick and miserable after a year of wasting away in depression and anxiety, doing nothing, with no life and no direction.

Where exactly is the pain? Upper, lower, sides, all over? Is the pain sharp, achey, dull?

It could be stress related. I get inflammation in my right lower abdomen and the Dr. believes it is due to stress. I have to go see a GI Dr. in a couple of weeks. The pain seems to be present more often than not.

Uh, the pain is kinda like right below where the chest ends and the stomach area starts, kinda sharp and deep. It hurts to laugh or move or anything.

This morning it's been really bad, I can't even move my neck to look down without feeling the pain deep inside, I've been stumbling around like a zombie trying to hold my upper body completely still.

If you can't move, you need to see an emergency physician.

I've had something like this before, I never got it properly diagnosed or looked at by a doctor. It could be Muscle tear/damage or scar tissue of some sort. My Mum told me she thought mine was something called dyspepsia, though, which may not be what you are experiencing.

I hope you feel better soon (*hug*)

It could be a few things, including gallstones, acid reflux, and muscle strain. Like they said, see your primary doctor. If you can't get an appointment, check into an urgent care or emergency room.

Thanks, I think I have to find a doctor to go to.

It's worst in the morning when I wake up, I can hardly walk or sit up, then it subsides a bit later in the day, unless I agitate it with sharp movement or laughter.

Ugh getting old and falling apart, right now I'm at the dentist office, had to get my bleeding gums injected with anti-biotics lest I end up losing teeth, my mouth is bleeding and hurts like hell. :icon_sad:

Yeah I dunno, it doesn't seem to happen due to mood or anything.

It basically starts getting bad when I lay down to go to sleep, and when I wake up the next morning, just sitting up to get out of bed is brutal.

It subsides a bit during the day and I no longer feel it non-stop, and thus I start to think I'm getting better. However just turning my neck to look down at myself right now produces deep sharp pain and tightness in my ribcage area, which tells me there's still something going on.

I actually wake up in the morning on a lot of occasions with a feeling in my stomach that hurts excrutiatingly bad when I breath. Some mornings this will wake me up way before I am ready. A long time ago I went to a gastroeologous to see what my issue is, be prepared to wait to figure out your issue as I have been waiting a long time and at this point it just makes me feel like the doctor is money hungry because of all the unnessecary tests. Idk if your pain is similar but I associate my pain to IBS which I haven't been diagnosed with. My stomach pain subsides within 20 minutes but it is horribly uncomfortable to wake up feeling like that and it always starts my days off bad. I would make sure to get into a doctor and if you need to go to a gastroelogous I would suggest doing so. But be prepared for possibly getting a colognoscapy or a system X-ray or anything else the doctor may suggest! I hope you find a great doctor that will aid you and do his job on finding out what's causing your stomach pains. From the area you are talking about could it possibly be your large intestines? I would look up human anatomy and figure out exactly what's in that area to make it easier to discribe to a doctor.

Gl and I hope you feel better soon!

Thanks for all the info and the advice, I really appreciate it. A lot to think about, I have no idea which of the things you mention could be causing this. Are you feeling better yet, or it sounds like you might still be working on resolving stomach issues too?

Anyway my mother made an appointment for me to go to a gastroenterologist tomorrow morning, I will let you all know how it goes.

Alright, so just to update, on Saturday morning I went to the gastroenterologist. I told my mother I was feeling better and not to make the appointment but she made it anyway. I still felt a little bit of tightness but it seemed to be slowly dissipating. But I went to the doctor....and it was kinda embarrassing to go to an gastroenterologist since it turned out not to be anything gastrointestinal. He just felt around on my stomach and told me I had sore muscle that had been strained or something. I always thought that it had felt like a muscular pain/tightness, but considering my lack of physical activity, I'm still not 100% sure what could have caused it, and I didn't think I had done anything that could have caused a sprained muscle (like lifting anything heavy). I still feel it pretty bad when I nod my head to look down. But it should eventually just go away on its own completely. Hopefully.

    I'm glad it wasn't anything major
