I've never dated or had any romantic relationship before, but now my parents are pressuring me to go out and date and maybe find a "nice guy" to settle down with. Growing up, I always was somewhat a tomboy. I wanted to be a medical examiner or detective (didn't really work out, but i'm still in the medical profession:icon_wink); I love dressing up as a dapper man; I enjoy being in charge, independent, dominant and protective (especially protective over girls). When it comes to dating guys, I just feel extremely uncomfortable being in a romantic setting with guys or thinking about being intimate with another guy. However, I don't think I'm sexually attracted to girls, either. Though the idea of having a romantic relationship with another girl is much more appealing to me. The only thing that comes remotely close to turning me on is watching gay romance (not porn, can't really stand the sight of a penis) with guys having romantic attachments with each other (kissing, cuddling, etc.) I'm weird, I know~ So now, with the pressure from my family, I really need to figure out who I am attracted to. Should I try dating women? I do come from a traditional family with traditional values, so I can't even begin to imagine coming out to my family:tears:

    Thanks for any input~~~

    Hi

As for now it's pretty hard to name your sexuality. It seems that you are more into girls, but we can't be really sure, can we? What you need is some experience with another woman. So yeah, your idea about trying to date a woman seems resonable. Then you will be able to define yourself better.

Don't worry about coming out to your family now, when nothing is sure. No need to sadden yourself unnecessary

I hope everything will turn out great for you.

Thank you so much for your advice!!!!!! I just feel like most people know their sexuality even without actually dating or "performing the act" Maybe I just have low libido or maybe I'm demisexual or something. I've always pictured myself settling down with a best friend/soulmate from graduate school or from work instead of making an effort to date.

Do you think that you might be transgender?

I don't think I'm transgender, but I certainly detest the traditionally assigned gender roles. I'm not really feminine in terms of gender expression, and I hate having large breast. Despite all that, I would not want to become a man. I'm just hella confused I guess

You might be a homoromantic asexual. Meaning you want to be romantic with people of the same sex but don't care for a sexual relationship.
