Not sure why, but I am strangely satisfied to have broken this scale. (!) (I know, no "test" for the Kinsey truly works, but the one I used simply asked questions about my already defined preferences.)

Seriously, the test couldn't place me on the scale. I lol'd a heck of a lot. Sorry for a somewhat spammy post.

I've taken the test four times in a month.

The first time, I got a 2 - predominantly hetero.

Then I failed the test. I failed it several times over the next week or two.

    Then I took a break, and soon, I got a 4 - predominantly homosexual.

Took it once more. I scored a 6...

    Wow.

I failed, then I got a 2, and took it two more times on different sites and got 0s both times.

I've never broken the test. It's all been 3s and 4s.

The one question that always changes things for me is, "Do you find the opposite sex attractive?" (paraphrasing). The answer depends on the interpretation of "attractive". Does it refer to having a pleasant appearance or a sexual attraction? It could be answered both ways. A yes gets me a 3 and a no gets me a 5 or 6. There are plenty of women who dress nice and take good care of themselves who I would call attractive. I also enjoy looking at the nude female form but I'm not in the least bit sexually attracted to any of them and the sexiest woman on the planet couldn't get my juices flowing. My attractions and very active fantasies are strictly for and about men.
On the other hand I've been married for decades and love my family more than life itself even though my wife and I haven't had sex since the early 90s. Our kids and grandkids would have a very difficult time accepting me as gay. Their happiness is far more important to me than satisfying my own desires. So while I would love to be in a relationship with a man and feel like a 6 I call myself a 5 because my family figures in to the equation.

Haha don't rely too much on these tests. I like to think of them more as a helpful starting point, or general guideline
