I actually understand you completely. I used to identify as asexual until about two years ago. I realized that my asexual attraction is based primarily with my emotions. I can only sleep with a lover and not a stranger. So I typically identify as a homoromantic demisexual. But, because I don't feel like explaining that to everyone I come across that asks I just go with "gay".
