Hi everyone! I read a lot that porn was a bad indicator of someone's sexual orientation. I agree with that statement. But I've also read that porn could tell you which orientation you ARE NOT. I would like to have some of your thoughts on this: I am pretty sure I am gay - still closeted - plus I still have some denial moments. Since I discovered pornography , I've only watched gay porn. I had, and still have, ABSOLUTELY no interest in porn involving women (straight or lesbian). Since I've been questioning myself more and more these past months, I watched some videos involving lesbians (not straight, so there is no interference with the man) Could my absolute lack of interest with porn involving women be an indicator that I fall in the gay spectrum of sexuality? All graphic material aside, I am almost sure I'm only attracted sexually and romantically to men. I don't find women arousing and I'm not attracted to them in the same way I am with men. Almost, because I still completely accepted myself...
Based on what you wrote, I think it's more likely that you fall towards the gay side of the sexuality spectrum. Porn itself isn't the most reliable source in determining someone's sexual orientation. Every genre of porn is staged in a way to make the viewer aroused. From my own personal experience, I realized I was gay because I solely got aroused by gay porn and never lesbian porn. I would imagine (especially for males), that if watching lesbian porn turns you on easily, then it's likely you are on the straighter side of the spectrum. Seeing 2 dudes go at it wouldn't arouse a straight man, much like seeing 2 women go at it wouldn't arouse a gay man. Porn aside, do you get turned on by the female body or male body? Can you imagine having a life-long partner of the opposite or same sex? Do you fantasize more about the same or opposite sex? (like "wet dreams" if you get those?) Asking myself those questions made me understand myself better and gave me a better indication that I am gay. It's quite complex. I'm not here to say for sure you are gay (since only you can figure that out yourself). But based on the info you provided, I would assume you are more gay than straight.
First of all, thank you for answering. Porn aside, I'm turned on by the male body. Female bodies do nothing to me (breasts, hips, etc.) For example, at the beach, I have eyes only for men, even if there are women in bikinis. I'd see myself more with a same sex partner, I don't really see me with a woman. ALL of my wet dreams were about men. Every single one of them. You are right, explicitely answering these questions put things into perspective. I'm most probably on the gay side of the spectrum.
