So I did the Kinsey scale just because why not and I got a interesting result. I'm not sure how often this happens but I got a 3. I thought it was weird because most people are on one side or the other or inbetween never right in the middle. I took the test when I was first started questioning like 2 years ago and I would get 1s and 2s but that's changed clearly.
I know there's some debate on the accuracy of the Kinsey scale so I'd like to hear what you guys think.

Dude, it's just an internet test. Don't take it so seriously. When I took it like once, it told me I was asexual, which is clearly not the case for me. Kinsey's like the internet IQ test of sexuality. It's not as accurate as you hope it to be. Don't let internet tests sway your point of view about yourself. Be who you think you should be.

Yeah I'm not taking it seriously. I just posted this because it's different than what most get on the test and I thought that was interesting.

The Kinsey scale test (well the online version at the very least) isn't the most reliable thing. Firstly, your sexuality is more for yourself to figure out and the test is merely an indicator that can sometimes simply be inaccurate. I've done it before, some of the questions aren't that great. Also it's perfectly fine to be right in the middle. People get scores varied all over the place for that test.

And there's nothing strange about it being different taking it at different times, it's totally normal. I feel like I might get a different result taking it at 7 am than 7 pm just depending on my mood and how sexually frustrated I am at the time even if my sexuality hasn't changed at all. After all, one of the questions is "I am sexually submissive." Does that really factor into who I'm attracted to? Not really. Also one of the questions is "I avoid watching ____ pornography." As it's mentioned so many times on this site, pornography isn't the most reliable indicator of anything either.

Don't worry about it. I personally don't think it's very accurate, it's just an indicator and something for you to mull on, not a conclusive test of your sexuality. I wish there was some kind of magic 8 ball that just told me my sexuality on the get go and I can move on with my life- unfortuantely it doesn't exist

Yeah i'm not worried about the scale honestly. I just put this up because it was a different result than what most people get. i thought it was interesting so i wrote about it.

Like Mackenziesr said, my results vary, typically anywhere from a 4-5 depending on the day and my mood. Hell, some days I'm a 6 and women do absolutely nothing for me, other days I think they look rather cute.

Also, how the questions are worded and type of questions asked can get you different results. The kinsey scale is fine as a guide - kind of like using the BMI for health indicators, but it is hardly accurate and subject to error. Human sexuality is far too complicated and malleable over one's life to simplify down to a number.

The point of the Kinsey scale is to illustrate the idea that sexuality is not binary: gay or straight. Rather most people's sexuality sits somewhere in the middle, usually with a very strong preference to one side or the other.

There is no official Kinsey test according to the Kinsey Institute the research institute at Indiana University where Dr. Kinsey did his work. The most common Kinsey test I've seen on EC was created for fun by someone who is not a professional sex researcher and the test is not based on clinical research. Anecdotally it scores 1 point lower for many people (for example people who identify as Kinsey 5 score 4). So take the results with a grain of salt.
