I've confused myself trying to decipher my reactions to fantasies, pornography, etc. especially when it's hetero because I can't figure out who I'm focusing on. Whether you identify as gay/bi/straight or something else, could you (in theory, if porn's not something you're normally into) get off to solo porn? Does seeing a woman/man masturbate to orgasm do anything for you, and is the idea of [whatever other gender] doing the same a turn-off? Is it just genitals in general that do it for you, or do they have to be male or female? (Like if you identify as a gay guy, would a video of a woman masturbating with no dude involved be totally off-putting but you'd really enjoy watching a guy?) I'm partly asking because I have a weird reaction here. I'm a woman and reading about a man having some solo time is hot, but seeing a video or picture of that is a total turn off. But if I read about a woman masturbating it does nothing for me, but I loooove watching a girl come on camera. Wtf???!! This probably makes no sense, but neither does my sexuality lmao. mmmmmmm what an interesting question. It looks like you've been on the forums for a while so probably already know that the general advice is that porn is a bad indicator of sexual orientation. In my personal case I feel that porn has been a substantial contributor to my confusion but I can also take from my personal experience an understanding of how hard it can be to overlook whilst trying to sort through the confusion. Personally, I have never really watched gay porn. I've tried it once or twice in my life and I could get off if I wanted to but genuinely found it to be disappointing compared to straight or lesbian porn. In contrast, I have watched so much straight and lesbian porn that it got to the point where I decided I had an addiction and spent no less than 2 years battling to cut down and give up porn. That battle ended a year or so ago which is pretty much when my questioning started. Lesbian and straight porn I've always loved. Interestingly I seem to focus on the guys more in straight porn but it's often hard to work out exactly what I'm focusing on. Very rarely watch solo porn but I have just tried 5 mins or so of both male and female (without touching myself or anything). I found a reasonable amount of response when watching the female and very little when watching the male - a little bored even. Having said that I know that if I put myself in the right setting and started adding my own imagination into the mix then I could get off to either. Anyway, my advice, don't try too hard to make sense of how your porn habits relate to real life.

I'm trying not to let my taste in porn being the guiding light here - and from how many questions I've asked about it, probably everyone here thinks all I do is watch porn/read erotica constantly, lmao - but like you said, it's reeeaaally difficult not to let it influence how I perceive my sexuality. I don't understand why I prefer images of women, but I prefer reading about men. Nothing about it makes any sense, so maybe I ought to quit cold turkey. I'm going to try focusing on who I notice on the street... that's a bit difficult because I never have a physical reaction to random people, but maybe if I pay attention to where my eyes naturally linger (without being a total creeper)?
Actually, solo male-only porn is my preferred type of porn. I also enjoy gay porn involving two or more guys, but tend to get bored after a while and fast forward to the end. Actually, much the same applies to solo porn - twenty minutes of watching anyone go at it is not all that interesting to me. Don't remember if I've ever seen female solo porn, but based on past experience with straight porn, I expect I'd not find it offputting so much as about as exciting as watching paint dry. I find solo porn to just be a bit boring in all honesty. But i can remember being aroused to porn with only a woman in it. Maybe i'm just a bit "damaged" and require more action now. However, all of my straight female friends that i have discussed this with say they watch porn with a man and a woman, and only a man masturbating is almost completely pointless. So what i'm getting at is that just because you don't like watching a guy jerking it off it doesn't mean you're not attracted to men. I guess that for a lot of people, me included, what get's me off isn't simply "looking at one gender" but is more about the whole sexual situation and the sort of "emotions" the video gives me in general.
