The fact that I am still attracted to my wife (usually) means "bi" would perhaps be the right label, but today I said to myself (while alone) "I'm gay". It felt so good to just say it. I am a gay man, I like other men, in fact I often prefer them to women. I am a man who is gay. I know I am hung up on labels that are not really important, but that feels like a load has been lifted from me.
Buddy that's sounds so cool. I think a lot of guys are into labelling even for those who say they are not. Helps us understand our social construction of who we are and who someone else is.
It's a big relief, isn't it? When I first came to terms with my sexuality, my dog was sitting next to me, I gently lifted one of her ears and whispered "I am gay." It's silly but it's such a pleasant feeling.
