Maybe it's a dumb question. I'm still physically male, and still presenting male for the time being. I have started Hrt, and my presentation will hopefully be mostly female within the next few months. Can I call myself a lesbian, or am I still too early in my transition to actually be a gay woman? Does that even make sense?

You definitely can! You're a woman, regardless of how far into your physical transition you are. If you're a women who likes other women, you're a lesbian. You don't have to be on hormones for a certain amount of time or look a certain way to count as a lesbian.

That's what I thought. It's just this weird insecurity I have about the whole thing.

My take on most things in life: you do you boo boo... just so long as it makes you happy and it's not harmful to anyone. (That includes yourself.)

Dude, call yourself whatever you want. Labels aren't super significant anyway.

And fact is, you are a woman, even if you don't look like it right now. You think like a woman, and you will look like a woman. So, yeah, go ahead and call yourself a gay woman, because you are a woman.

IMO you can totally call yourself a lesbian. You are a woman "on the inside" and that's what really counts. But I would say it's really important for the girl you're dating to know how far in transition you are. Otherwise it could be kind of a "surprise" (and even a problem) when things are getting serious. I think it's just fair to tell her

Well yes, obviously "surprise I have a dick" is not a good way to come out to a partner....lol

Thank you for the reassurance everyone! I know it was a stupid insecurity to have, I just couldn't help it.
