I was wondering if transgender women use public transportation meant only for women ( to prevent sexual harassment) if they do r bio women accepting or not? Are a authorities sensitive about it or they don't allow trans women to use that public transportation? Is there any law that forbids or allows this?
In most, if not all "Western" countries, public transportation isn't segregated by gender or sex. Everyone rides the same buses, trains, subways, planes, etc. so in the west, a transgender person rides with everyone else.
I don't think so, but they should be able to. I guess they could if they pass really well, but if they have to show I.D., probably not.
If she had legally changed her gender (paperwork and all) and she passed well enough, I doubt it would be a problem. Most hatred of transsexual people is directed to the ones who do not pass.
I think it's because they see the non-passing as their biological sex, and assume that they're cross-dressers or gay people. Yes, it is kind of unfair, but I hope medicine will be able to get rid of that difference one day. :icon_wink I'm sure that would make everyone happier.
But what if I legally transgender woman can't really pass? Would they discriminate her If I had the guarantee. I will pass as a woman I would become one but im a little bit scared that even with hormones people wouldn't believe me
I've never heard of such a thing. It sounds abhorrent. (the segregation, not the use of said transport by transgender women).
I've also heard of this happening in Japan because sexual harassment there is so high. I guess it's easier than actually addressing the problem?? |:
Neither have I, and I've been to Mexico a few times, along with Puerto Rico. I'm going to ask my friends from Venezuela and Chile just to see if this really does exist.
Being openly transgendered in Mexico or Central America sounds like a wonderful way to get raped, beaten, harassed, or murdered.
Lol, no they don't. The cabs, buses, and metros in Mexico City had a mix of both genders, and no one made a huge deal out of it.
There are women only buses implemented since quite a few of them get harassed in the mixed ones, but it isn't a part of the law or anything, and there are plenty where both can still ride together. It isn't Saudi Arabia.
