That's so amazing. I hope if I become a parent I can treat my kids just as well.

Haha. I read about this woman before. Apparently (3 years ago) her son told her about being gay.

I was born in 1992 and my brother in 2005.

The differences between our comprehension of relationships at the same age is unbelievable. I grew up with derogatory terms, being called a "f****t," being enticed to call others "f****t."

My brother, his friends, children in general all look at same-sex relationships no different than heterosexual relationships. Maybe different, but not unacceptable.

    Radical changes, mannnn

This is absolutely amazing. It's so sad how people have to assume heterosexuality in even babies and toddlers, but kids are 'too young to know they're gay'

Exactly. The whole "straight by default" or "everyone is straight until proven gay" thing pisses me off to no end.

It's because since they're straight and always have been, they expect that everyone starts off straight and some "turn gay" or something right around puberty. They fail to consider that gayness is as natural and immediate for OP's son as straightness is for them.

In short, people are stupid, and relentless education is the treatment.

I think(at least I am) we are all guilty of similar assumptions.

We think people are <insert dominant religion>, straight, male/female, has similar intelligence/wisdom level as us, had similar education as ours (i.e. knows how to write and read) or same race as we...

This might be bad for some but to me it is understandable. What matters is what you do when you learn your assumption is misplaced. What makes things pathetic is insisting on your way of life is the only way. Acting like those who are different than you are wrong/filthy/unworthy.

Props to White Knight for cutting some slack. I look at a guy with a big beard and camo hat and think "redneck homophobe", because that's typical for someone who looks like that, but it doesn't mean I'm right.
