Yeah, I think of "gay" as meaning anyone exclusively attracted to the same sex.

I find the term 'lesbian' redundant.

I don't care for the word bisexual, either. I think there should be a way to say "I like the dudes AND the ladies!" without actually putting the word "sexual" in there. Given a choice between "gay" and "homosexual", I'd pick the word gay any day. Seems like bi folks oughta have the same kind of option.

gay, to me, refers to anyone who is attracted only to the same gender as themselves.

    A lesbian is gay.

a heterosexual is purely opposate sex attraction.

a bisexual/pansexual is attracted to both.

a sex addict is simply addicted to sex.

and no one in their right mind would want to sleep with sarah palin/ann coulter/glenn beck/al franken.

Yes. I use it to refer to both men and women. When I say "the gay community" I mean "the LGBT community" because it's easier to say. I also use both "gay" and "lesbian" to refer to myself.

This pretty much sums up how I use the term. I often think only of men when using the word "gay," but I understand if a woman refers to herself as gay. Honestly, it's a matter of preference IMO.

Wouldn't a male lesbian be a straight guy?

No because a lesbian is a gay woman lol then gay guys would be like straight women? Idk never mind lol

  10. If I'm having a serious conversation about my gayness, I'll use the word gay. If I'm joking, I'll say lesbian. I don't know why. But it seems like a lot of lesbians acually don't like the word. It's a good gaydar tool - straight girls are usually really specific about "gay" being boys and "lesbian" being girls, at least in my area.

Is it wierd to say I really dont care. I mean, i don't like labels that much. But I guess gay is fine. I find queer offensive for some reason probally because my dad says it all the time. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I prefer bi over saying bisexual. I think it's really bizarre when people say homosexual, especially when they themselves are not gay. (note: i am using gay to include all LGBT, again, hahaha)

Personally, I use gay because 'lesbian' sounds more like a porn term than an actual sexuality. (No offense, just my personal opinion.) It's easier to say. I guess the right way to phrase it is that lesbian tends to be a noun rather than an adjective, and I guess it can feel like objectification. :/

If the word is used in "gay people" or "the gay world," then yes.

If the word is used in "gay society" or "gay culture," then probably no. I would assume it refers to men and their institutions more so than women, though it still could.

If the word is used in "gay men" or "gay guys," then obviously no.

I usually call myself gay. Occasionally I'll say lesbian. I don't know, it's just more of an 'everyday' word than lesbian.

Now that I think about, I would probably call myself lesbian in my native language. I live in an English speaking country now and say I'm gay when it comes up, but if I was living in my native Hungary I would probably use the lesbian word in my language, but that's probably because lesbians are usually called lesbian in my language, gay is usually reserved for boys.

Gay refers to people that are attracted to the same gender so that would include lesbians Lesbians are gay but not all gays are lesbians

I think the word gay refers to both males and females. I used to be irritated when people say "gays and lesbians". It's like saying "people and women"; it makes no sense. But it doesn't bother me as much anymore.
