The worst fandom I'm in is the Dragon Age fandom. The sad part is, most of the fandom knows that its terrible, but continue on anyways. People are way too opinionated over a game.

Most fandoms have good or bad, the best fandoms are the tiny ones, where there's not enough people in them to cause a ruckus. The only fandom I'm in that's tiny enough to apply for that though is the Kekkaishi fandom. Everything else is too large.

The Ginga fandom is pretty bad too, but that's because the creator is known for treating his fans badly, and has... 'interesting' views on sexism. But some of the fandom ignores this, or criticizes it without throwing a fit. Unfortunately not everyone is so civil.

I like them, for the most part. They're like online fanclubs for fans of stuff, though needless to say, some of them go too far. However, they are usually easy to avoid if you want to avoid them.

In general, I love fandoms and I'm a part of many of them; it's some of the people that I'm sick of.

Anyways, if you aren't fond of a fandom, remember these wise words that flood the Youtube comment section: "Don't like it, don't watch it."

Definitely. Even the Harry Potter fandom can get annoying, and that's not a reflection on the books/movies, but on the fans opinions and ways of expressing them

Personally, I don't associate with fandoms.

I don't think fandoms are inherently wrong (unless they're being clique-ish as some people have mentioned). It can be good for some people to feel like the belong with peers who have similar interests.

Sure, I love Doctor Who, Sherlock, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Star Wars, and so on and so forth. But I like these for my own reasons. Not to be some crazed, so called "geek/nerd" creature in a pack of other rabid humans craving acceptance and belonging.

I really hate the fact that I cannot like a thing without being associated with some mob. It's the automatic stereotyping that really ticks me off. I like it because I like it. I don't give a crap what other people think. If I obsessively studied and adored plankton, it would be because I enjoy doing so. But if it's something that has a "fandom" then Oh my, I've just joined a cult.

I'm sick of Minions. They're little urine-stained devils that pull up all sorts of quotes on Facebook that not only fill up my newsfeed but have zero relation to the actual film/s.
I'm also sick of Disney. And girls my age liking One Direction. And Ruby Rose.

I have beef with Taylor Swift too, but I'm beginning to sound like an old fart.

I think an issue with fantoms is the fact that if you like, say, football, then people will assume you're obsessed with it and jump the gun. You can't win - you want a variety of things to discuss, yet social media sucks dry one fad after another, until you end up being bored of the same subject. There should be more variety in life. But if you be blasé about what you're into people assume you aren't interested. Where's the middle ground?

I don't care for them, but most of the time it's easily avoidable with the exception of My Little Pony. They're the only one I begrudge for showing up in my search results for literally everything else. I don't have a choice as to whether or not I see their content.

I don't really go on Facebook, so I don't know if stuff gets circulated more there.

I love these fandoms: Lotr, Homestuck, Creepypasta, Most anime...

Kill these fandoms: Frozen, Doctor Who, and MLP...

Basically, we all have different tastes and if you don't like the fandom somebody belongs too, don't comment on it. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: I think MLP is annoying af, but I will tolerate if my friends discuss it... I love nitpicking movies, both good and bad, so obviously I will appreciate most movie fandoms more... but God, I hate Frozen. -_- That song annoyed me so much... thank God not as many people are still singing it...

I like fandoms for the most part but sometimes people in them go WAY OVERBOARD into crazy-obsessive-possessive land. Like I'm in a lot of Kpop fangroups and a lot of people in one of them were blasting a member of a certain group with awful hate messages because "how dare she date so-and-so!" like, it's ridiculous

In terms of fiction-based fandoms (eg. HP), they're pretty fun but again, the few psycho fans who go on rampages when you get one minor detail of anything related to the piece of fiction wrong

YES to this!! If I ever mention to someone that I like Harry Potter, suddenly it's "OH SO YOU'RE A POTTERHEAD?! DO YOU SHIP BLAH BLAH" like no, chill

People are actually like that? The first two weeks of being in the fandom, I didn't even know what they looked like. I was genuinely just in for the music.

I also agree with the fan naming thing. I may love Taylor Swift but I don't refer to myself as a Swiftie. Or Xenite or Scoobie. I'd rather just say I'm a fan of whatever it is I'm a fan of. And though I do love to ship, it isn't my sole reason for liking a show.

This is a little bit farther back in the thread and I have to say, I agree 100%.

I'm in a fandom for a show and they're very light, happy, nice, and fun to hang out with...probably because the show itself is underrated and not very well liked or known.

I do consider myself a 'fan' of some things like Homestuck but don't participate in the fandoms because, heh, guess I just don't like big fandoms, where I can easily get "sick of them".

I get sick of fandoms, but not all.

Eh. I've just accepted it at a part of this world and let it happen. You can only tell people "no" so many times.. they'll never give up, no matter how many times you say you're against it.

Some fandoms are a total mess, and I'm in one of them. Most fans are fine, but too many of them are off their rockers sometimes and it's pretty scary when you're certain that they stalk the cast or will burn the studio down if their favorite character gets killed off (since over 50k of them signed a petition to try to bring an obviously dead character back and/or get the show cancelled over it).

I've never gotten the appeal of furries. It strikes me as weird, but to each their own, I guess. (no judging)

I don't mind most fandoms, though. We all have our own interests. I like (and am part) of anime fandoms. I especially love the Hetalia fandom...

I don't understand the obsession with following vloggers(not a real word by the way) on Youtube.
