To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar (empowering tale of drag queens taking a cross-country trip) Bound (hot mafia thriller with Jennifer Tilly and Gina Gershon rowr!) The Opposite of Sex (chances are you haven't heard of it, but it's both funny and amazing) I don't have any others with overt homosexuality, but I will probably choose from: Fried Green Tomatoes Little Miss Sunshine Barbarella Have you got any fave (gay or not) super empowering movies?
I don't know if they were recently added or they changed their algorithm for what I see, but I've discovered a lot more lesbian focused movies in the last few months on Netflix. You could easily spend all day binge watching them.
You might enjoy Cloudburst (IMDB link here) - A lesbian couple escape from their nursing home and head up to Canada to get married. Cute indy movie, nice to see a story with lead romantic non-str8 characters who are past 30... we don't see that often enough. Might be available on Netflix in the US.
Anatomy of a Love Seen Imagine Me & You (very cute... I want to marry Piper Perabo) Pride (heartwarming!) Appropriate Behaviour Hedwig and the Angry Inch Show Me Love Concussion Also I recommend any standup show with Margaret Cho
My favourites: Paris is Burning Edge of Seventeen Get Real Shortbus Mysterious Skin Not Another Gay Movie (Comey Spoof on Coming out movies)
Ooh, good ones! I loved Bound... Also good: But I'm a Cheerleader The Incredibly True Adventures of Two Girls in Love Go Fish
