I'm going to tell you as one writer to another that you need to play hardball. I take it you freelance?

So here's something you need to keep in mind. Your clients, while they help put bread on the table, aren't your bosses. They're basically your customers. You're not an employee, you're a contractor. You can't change the rates your, say, electrician charges to patch up your outlets. As a writer, you're no different.

Don't be afraid of negotiating. You tell them "Look, I'm open to talking with you more about what you're looking for but I won't take less than $15 (or whatever rate you like to charge) an hour for this kind of work. I have to think about my bottom line too."

Any idea how to get out of the "stay in bed" mindset?

The problem with that is there are thousands of unqualified individuals living in poor countries where they would gladly work for 2$ an hour or 3$. I'm thinking of rejecting the offer due to time constraints.Plus I'm working for someone else and earn 800$ a day as long as they have work to be done. My dream is to put calamari on the table instead of bread :3

Yes and there are. But, you have to show your clients why paying a little extra for you is better than trying to solict $1 an hour work from Upwork or Freelancer. I always emphasize the fact that editing services are always included with my writing services so they'll get to spend less time trying to edit my stuff so it's actually readable.

It's no different than hiring someone in any other industry. People are willing to pay extra for quality. Don't let people take you for granted.

    wow your well versed.
I think thats called hard ball negotiations.
Still I'd rather slowly build up my resume to the point of being grossly over qualified. I've already managed to learn ruby rails, photoshop, Html5, and the basic run around seo marketing.
To put it into context, I have a weird feeling they will simply reject my offers for being so young; despite having completed over 150 projects before.

I started when I was 19 and still in community college. But trust me, your resume will still look impressive if you don't compromise on pay. It shows potential clients and employers that you're motivated.

And yes, they may reject you for being young. But that's their loss if that's the only reason why. The client who refuses to look at your work portfolio and instead just judges you on age or whatever isn't a client worth working for.

No clue. I only get out of bed just for meals and chores. Other then that, I sit in my bed doing my laptop. Getting out of bed is scary...

I really appreciate the advice, and really get what your saying.
I try not to sell myself short, but I don't have a very strong backbone.
And I really hope so, I don't exactly come from the wealthiest of families.

I'm wondering if I don't have a 'lazy intelligence.' That I'm capable of doing, writing things which display it, but only when it's a requirement or prompted by circumstantial events. Anything I'd like to do of my own initiative always seems half-assed or daydreaming, but tell me to do 'this' or present a certain situation and suddenly I become stimulated and active. -________-

Why is it that in my dreams the people I get on with IRL are complete jerks in my dream, and the people who I hate are suddenly nice to me in my dreams?

    Gah, I'm so confused.

Pfft. no. I don't know why anyone would throw away their life for social media.

I don't have much of a backbone either but freelancing is a great way to develop it
