I was in a meeting with a few others yesterday; my dad, the school principal and counsellor, and three mental health workers. It was mainly about something else, but during the discussion the topic of my gender identity came up, and I told them I wanted to be called Johan and be referred to with "they" pronouns. Most of them only used he pronouns, even though I didn't mention them at all, and I'm also pretty sure they don't believe in nonbinary identities, which leads me to the next point: they want me to start taking testosterone. Like, now. Maybe I want to take it someday, but I'm still deciding at the moment and this whole thing is freaking me and my parents out. What do I do?! :bang:

They can't force you to do something you aren't comfortable with.

This is not their decision; it's yours. It doesn't matter what they want. What YOU want matters, because this is YOUR life. They need to understand that.

If they keep pushing it, you could take it your school's administrator or even the court.

Well, it is good that they're supporting you. However, if you do not want to take hormones yet, make is very clear to them and I don't see why they wouldn't back off.

That's unusual, and they definitely shouldn't be forcing the issue.

That's crazy. You need to be very clear with them of what you want and what your intentions are. It sounds like they're trying to support you but have no knowledge of nonbinary identities which isn't exactly surprising. Hormones are a big deal and not for everyone. Try to educate them and don't let yourself be pressured into something you aren't ready for and may never want. And that is okay.

My doctors and family want me to have an hysto. That doesn't mean it's happening.

It's your decision and yours alone, so whatever they say, they can't force you to take it. Heck, they're not even in the medical field so their opinion basically means jack shit.

This does seem really strange indeed, usually school staff deter students who really want hormones from injecting. You do what you want and if your wish is to not start hormones that's up to you.
