Hi. I was just wondering if anyone here is a member of an lgbt+ sports club/team. I've been thinking of joining one or two to get fit and improve my social circle (as meetups aren't really my thing).

I used to be in a lesbian club (martial arts and crossfit). My intention was mainly to meet lesbians, when I moved here and didn't know anybody apart from work. It was allright, but mainly for the sports, not so much for socializing. I quit after a year and now work-out on my own and found a great queer group (we mainly visit cultural events in town and meet for a pub-crawl once a month). How many lgbti sports clubs do you have in Manchester? And what would you like to do?

I was involved for a bit with International Frontrunners. It's an LGBT running club with chapters all over the world. Good luck!

Not Lgbt, but I've been involved in a few sports type groups in my time. They have ranged from o.k to very, very cliquey, so what I'd advise is to go a few times before you commit or spend any money on gear etc.Hope you find something nice and suitable.X

Well there's Frontrunners, a football team, rugby and tennis plus possibly hockey (non-lgbt).

My first choices would be rugby and hockey but it'll depend on location and costs involved.

Obviously. Google LGBT Sports leagues ad see what comes up.

I can not remember where I found one (maybe Stonewall's website), but there was a list of UK based sports leagues. See what's in your area.

I'd love to, but it would have to be one for people with physical limitations, and that's just too much to expect. They have an adventurers LGBT group here and I love their activities, but I know I couldn't keep up.

That sucks. Sport should be open to everyone.
