Which chat room system do you prefer?

    1. The current one, Blab, which is here http://emptyclosets.net/chat/

    2. The test one, PhpMyChat, which is here http://emptyclosets.net/chatroom/

We'll go with the majority after a week or so. If we go with Blab I will buy the higher version which includes user logins etc.

That's a really tough question, because they both have their strong points and downfalls. If PhpMyChat didn't blink, I'd totally vote for it, but that's very annoying. If Blab had features aside from smileys, I'd vote for that too, but it's a very basic system.

Don't get me wrong, I'm nit picking. In the end, if we can use it to communicate, it doesn't matter which program we use ^^ but as far as these two chat systems go, they both have their annoying qualities, heh.

I am open to other suggestions, as long as it's web based and doesn't use Flash or Java etc. If anyone has seem something good elsewhere and can identify what software it is, let me know and I'll look into it.

Blab looks nice but it's mostly unusable on Linux systems, and sometimes even on Windows systems, especially with Firefox. So, I vote for phpMyChat, even while it doesn't look very good (especially on Opera, no antialiasing, who knows why...)

However, the paid version of Blab might fix the compatibility problems. Maybe I should try to mask Opera as Internet Explorer on Windows XP or Safari on OS X... it might be that it is for Windows and Mac only.

I like both, they all have nice backgrounds

But I prefer PhpMyChat, because nothing happened or appeared wen I clicked on the color or smileyes icons on Blab

I like the Blab one. It's pretty and familiar, and easy to understand.

I've been testing the new version of Blab installed (3.8) on Windows and Linux using various browsers. So far it runs acceptably on Firefox 2.0.0.3 under Windows and on Opera 9.20 under Linux. I will continue the trials with other browsers (Internet Explorer, Konqueror, Firefox for Linux, Epiphany). If there are incompatibilities I will report them here.

If 3.8 solves the compatibility problems, I'll pick Blab.

I prefer Blab. It has a better overall look to it. But then again, I have nothing else to base my vote on, as I am computer challenged.
