    I'm seeking recommendations for well-written/reasonably easy-reading self-help books on this subject.

    Not everyone can afford to pay for a therapist or is perhaps initially too reluctant to consult one.

    A good book can hopefully initiate a process of healing that will dovetail into seeking professional help.
