Default friend is sad

Hey guys here i am again. Well lately I've been feeling a little bad because my best friend hasn't talked to me that much. We text a bit and then she stops texting because i know she is on her phone 24/7. Anyways i told her about it and she said its because she feels sad because her boyfriend is away for seven months because he joined the navy. So she won't see him. She says she sometimes feels depressed and wants to be alone..I want to make her feel better but idk how. so i was wondering if you guys had any suggestions to make her happy. any advice is greatly appreciated.

also now that I'm here I want to know something else, we were talking and she said the only reason we are best friends is because I'm gay. I don't know why, but when she said this it kind of made me feel bad. anyways do you guys think I'm overreacting about this..

Thanks if you answer either or both of these questions.

Default Re: friend is sad

That is a bit of a weird thing to say, and I would be really put off by it to be truthful, but if helping her is what you have in mind bringing this up, probably will not be the best tactic. I think probably the best thing you can do, is to give her an opening to talk about her problesm with you. For the longest time I worried about telling my friends about my personal problems because I worried that I was placing an extra burden on them. It was not until one told me that she was a "glutton for punishment" that I finally believed she might want to hear my problems. Just give her a good opening. And remember that part of building trust is also sharing your personal issues with her. I hope you can help.
