This is for a DS emulator, I've only tried it with Pokemon games.
The DS emulator (DeSuMe) is so slow that I can't even walk around a room without it taking forever.

VBA works perfectly fine for GBA Roms.

Does this happen to anyone else?
Is there a DS emulator that works?

DeSuMe works fine but it is very resource-dependent and needs a computer with relatively high hardware specs to run well (much higher than what is required for GBA).

    Do this if you haven't:
    Tools>3D Settings>SoftRasterizer (under Renderer)>OK

It will look different/not as good, but should improve performance.

The reason it doesn't work as well as it would on an actual DS is not because the DS has better resources or the fact that they are dedicated to playing the game, since the hardware isn't actually powerful at all, but rather that the emulator has to do a lot more to try to pretend to be a DS. DeSuMe would be your best bet in terms of performance.
