Computer builders out there which CPU do you prefer? I'm a AMD guy myself, They're priced better and easier to OC IMO
I've used AMD for years, although I like the new Intel Core series processors. Hyper threading, turbo boost.... Used to be a big AMD fan.... Although I've switched to Intel.
Been curious about hyper threading. Just don't think it the benefits would warrant the price difference for me.
Awwwwwwwwww S:***:t son! We's having ourselves a CPU fight! (lol) Joking aside; I like Intel, I have very little experience with AMD.
I didn't vote. I use whatever comes installed in a computer. Processor is pretty low on the list of my considerations. Indeed, I can't recall ever having cared much what ran the machine, whether it was a Zilog Z80, a Motorola 68000, or an Intel.
I just bought a 3.4 ghz dual core am3 processor for $64 from AMD. I'm fairly happy with them considering the power I got for such a limited socket type.
I have a Phenom II x2 555 based system sitting here. I am planning to upgrade it sometime next year. I'll likely go Intel as they have AMD beat when it comes to power consumption.
Intel: More expensive, but generally faster and cooler running. <<That tidbit is important when you push it to the max.
Intel if you've got the cash, and overall, IMO, is better. AMD isn't bad though, and is definitely the choice to go on a budget.
If money is no object, then the answer for me is Intel, no question. If I'm building for someone else who is a bit strapped for crash, I'm going for performance-cost optimization, so I pick AMD instead. My opinion could change over time. At the moment, it looks like Intel is playing to the enthusiast market, and AMD is playing to the value market, so there really is a legitimate choice. It just depends on what you want. Also, I am thinking that AMD could get to be "better" as far as being more legitimately multicore than Intel. I haven't paid attention to architectures in a while, so maybe what I'm saying right now is a moot point, but I know that Bulldozer was actually eight-core, and Sandy Bridge (which is what I have) was four-core and faking it with hyperthreading. I've had so many hard-crashes and game freezes since I got this computer with amd/ati, so Intel for me.
