I've been wondering for a while now...

What's the big fucking deal with the iPod Touch?

So many young people seem to love them... I MISS my iPod Classic my brother and his friends "misplaced"...

I have myself an iPhone, and I do use it a lot, but I MISS the Classic!

    It held SO MUCH MUSIC!

I'd buy my music CD's used and rip them into iTunes and copy them over.

Although, on the other hand, I like Spotify on my iPhone.

Just curious as to why so many are so up in arms about the iPod Touch.

I see the screens on those things broken all the time, or did, when I was in high school.

Funny, as I went with the iPhone for its sturdy construction and build.... Dropped the damn thing and dinged it up and I still have zero problems - although the left speaker on it is dead.

Why do you need a device that does all that stuff, if its main purpose is MUSIC?

*shrugs* I've still got my 4th gen nano, and have no intention of ever changing models  If it dies, I probably wouldn't go with Apple for MP3 players again. Their new ones are too tiny, too breakable. I really don't like touchscreens on devices that I'm going to be dancing around with it in my pocket. I'd rather go with a weird zune than have a busted up tiny ipod that can play games. And it's hard to get anything under 6th gen, let alone 4th nowadays.

All that aside, 4th gen is fucking sturdy. I've had a couple of software issues, and it gets annoying sometimes, but the case must be made of like fucking mimetic poly-alloy cause this shit will not die  .

I like my iTouch because it lets me use all the iOS features that are popular without having to pay an exorbitant cell phone bill, haha.

    Suppose that makes sense, then.

I adore my Classic. Anyone and everyone with a large music library should get one, they're cheap and have great HDD space. I've got ~5000 songs, mostly lossless sitting on that thing, and it works flawlessly.

I used to have an iTouch, but I found that the screen wasn't big enough to use functionally all the time, but it was too big and breakable to use as music player. I now have a 7" tablet (nexus 7) that I use for portable internet usage and apps. It's lightweight and comfortable to hold while being big enough to use the internet and apps comfortably. For music, I have a cheap sansa mp3 player. It's not breakable, and it clips on to my clothes easily while I'm working out or moving around the house. I'm also happy not to be using iTunes anymore - I always found it annoying.

    I have an iTouch.

Yeah, it's pretty much an iPhone without the phone capabilities.
    Which makes it perfect.
I already have a smartphone, and the iPod was slightly cheaper so...
I use it for apps and the internet, mostly. Sometimes music, but it's really not it's primary function to me, even if that was the original intent. It doesn't have nearly enough storage space for loads of music, and it's quite big to try and fit in your pocket if you're going jogging, compared to say, a nano.
