Hey, all. Does anyone have any suggestions for good music artists? I'm willing to listen to anything, but I tend to get stuck in a rut, like listening to the Sweeney Todd Soundtrack over and over again for the past month. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: I'm open to all suggestions. :icon_bigg

Well, my favorite artist is Celldweller. He's mostly electronic rock, but has stuff from a few of the other electronic genres. His first album was more industrial, and his newer stuff includes more dubstep. I know that can be a big turnoff for some, but I love it.

Also really into Ellie Goulding right now. Recently bought Halcyon, and her songs are just so damn catchy. I've had every song from her first album stuck in my head at least once or twice.

Hmmm, I've never heard of him, I'll have to look him up. I like dubstep too. OMG, I adore Ellie Goulding, she is soooo talented (and gorgeous too. XD) I'll look for Celldweller. Thanks for the suggestions.

I loved Kaskade's older songs (back in the day of "It's You, It's Me" and "Strobelight Seduction"), but even if I'm not as much a fan of his newer stuff (except Atmosphere), I can't bring myself to stop listening to and appreciating his songs. XD

Hmmm... Well, if you're into dubstep, Au5 & Fractal make pretty uplifting tracks. Gemini is good, too. Blood Groove & Kikis makes pretty laidback Progressive House for when you just want to wind down. Jon Hopkins and Owsey are two of my go-to artists for ambient (Jon is more acoustic; Owsey is more electronic)...

    Oh, and BT.

Lately I've been listening to a lot of OAR, Gin Blossoms, and Third Eye Blind.

If you want 60's stuff I pretty much was raised on Peter Paul & Mary. Beyond all the obvious stuff (Dylan, Beatles, Stones, etc.) I like The Animals and The Rascals a lot.

For off the beaten path stuff, I'm a fan of Josh Woodward. All of his music is Creative Commons licensed, so you don't have to pay a dime for it (though I have, in various ways...and I'd recommend you do as well if you like his music)

it takes a long time to find the exact type of music that fits you, but once you know just keep looking up that genre.

I for instance enjoy heavy post/ alternative punk. Karp, Jesus Lizard, minutemen, Drive like Jehu, Big Boys, Fugazi

    oh goodness let's talk

First things first, go start listening to the Guess Who. The move on to the Byrds, Simon and Garfunkel (especially America), I imagine you've already gotten to the Beatles, Elton John's early works and so forth

Then I recommened a step into the punk CBGB crowd. Richard Hell and the Voidoids, Iggy Pop, Ramones

Then bring it all back with some acid rock like Hendrix, Iron Butterfly, Doors and so on

    Have fun!
