has a non horror game ever had a moment that scared you, a couple i had was when i was little and playing mario 64 and the damn pinio in the haunted house scared the crap out of me. or when i was playing fabel 2 and the one demon door room that had a nice house then abrubtly changed when i entered it. and while not scary in the last couple months in persona 4(golden) when the music changed too set the mood of the situation the music made it hard to play alone in my room.

Not sure if Fallout 3 counts, but the subway on the way to the brotherhood of steel outpost where 3 dog is scared the crap out of me in general.

The infamous Lanayru cutscene in The legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. This is also a big lipped alligator moment.

    This.

Also the catacombs in Donkey Kong 64 freaked me out as a kid. The minecart ride area didn't help either.

I started playing Tomb Raider: Underworld a while ago. I'm stuck at the beginning when you're supposed to swim because it creeps me out.

I would add that the hiss that Ghouls make in general upon seeing you is a eerie sound. I can't remember that exact sequence but I remember all the Metro tunnels being full of Ghouls.

Not really scared per se but the original Jurassic Park game for Sega Genesis gave me an anxiety attack when you play as dr. grant and there's a level on there where the T-Rex's head comes busting through the wall like 5 times. I'd creep along and get more and more anxious every time I came to a area wide enough for him to fit his head into. It was like 'oooh crap, is he there? is he there?"

Oh and speaking of sounds, I literally have to cover my ears whenever a Re-Dead would scream at me in Ocarina of Time.

-Fighting/escaping the rancor (and later on in the game, two mutant rancors) in Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. When I first played the game, I didn't know that those two missions were optional, though...

-Fighting the rancor in the sewers on Taris in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Repulic I. The various Tarentatek you encounter/fight throughout the course of the entire game and the various baby rancors on the final planet you visit also scared me, although to a much lesser extent.

-The tomb level in Mortal Kombat 4. The Tomb was one of the fighting stages and has some really creepy music playing in the background.

-The first time you are introduced to The Flood in the first Halo game.

Does Thief counts as a horror game?

Fable has it's creepy moments. It kind of goes with fable having no idea what kind of game it wants to be. Some times it thinks it's a physiological horror game.

Minecraft can get quite scary at times. The creepers oh the creepers.

The "Dark Passage" level of Spyro the Dragon still stands as the most horrific game moment for me. You've got these puppies that turn into deformed demons when the light goes off and try to eat you. I was about 7 when I first played that level; I still shudder to this day.

This scared the shit out of me when I was younger. I remember turning off my Gamecube because I didn't want to hear Samus scream when she dies

the Katamari games kind of freak me but it is partially due to motion sickness - still there are some levels that just make me leave the room when someone is playing

Can I include Minecraft? Cave ambience, dark mineshafts, random monsters... plus I'm pretty sure I've witnessed some hard evidence of Herobrine. (I'll admit, I am extremely superstitious)

It might be classed as a horror game but BioShock has moments when an enemy will scream and jump out of nowhere! With headphones on it shakes you up to say the least...

One time I turned on a game called Warsong (a strategy game that I loved and blab about here all the time), and in the middle of the night I hear thunder that freaked me out. It was the lightning strike in the middle of the main title sequence.
