    Yep. CDs/DVDs/even Blu Rays are riddled with a series of microscopic flat spots (lands) and holes (pits). When a laser is shined on those features, it will reflect on a land and be dissipated on a pit, registering either "1" or "0". Those 1s and 0s (binary code) are all a computer needs to do everything in the program.
