So I was reading some articles earlier about this, and most people were saying it wouldn't happen because Nintendo is already murdering Sony in that part of the gaming market, so Microsoft wouldn't stand a chance. I went off Xbox a long time ago, but do you think it could happen, and would you use something like that?

    What would be the point?

THe problem with sony and microsoft is that they are still hung up on the idea that graphics are the important part. Half the reason nintendo is doing so well is because they realise people are happy to play something that isn't graphically intensive but has a good story on the move, whereas most people that want good graphics want it on a big-ass screen!

The other chunk of hand-held gamers are content with the simple phone games and they don't have a hope in hell of taking over that market because it would be a complete waste of time.

They would have to completely change their ethos to put out a handheld console people are likely to use MORE than they would use anything that already exists.

You mean the mobile phone is ruining Nintendo and Sony so why should Microsoft move in?

  4. Microsoft is already losing a lot of money as it is with Xbox, I doubt they'd jump into the handheld market.

I thought it was Sony that was doing badly?

No Sony is and has been profiting on the ps3 and ps4. Other Sony divisions aren't doing so hot but SCEA and SCEE are both doing well.

Thing is what would you play on it? Being able to play Halo on the bus would be great and all but why would I do that when I can play it on a big telly with surround sound and easy access to multiplayer with my mates and a comfy controller? Same problem the Vita has unfortunately.

It would be very crazy and the losses Microsoft are taking with Xbox as it is are already insane... And considering what happened to the PlayStation Vita...

If an Xbox Portable were to happen, it could sell decently in North America because of brand power and recognition... But in terms of the worldwide market it's too risky of a gamble to take.

The smartphone market has eaten up a lot of the potential customers that the two handhelds of today can have. 3DS is doing decently enough for the time being, but Vita is... Vita hurts.

It would be fascinating to see if all of the big three were to compete in the handheld market though.

I would say definitely not, I think generally consoles are going go away sooner than later. I think we might see a ps5 and a new xbox, but that’ll be it.

Unless pcs become uniform across the board in terms of specs this will not happen.

    Xbox won't have a chance.

I believe a portable system for STEAM is being developed.

That would be the end of Sony's PSP system and a possible XBOX ...
