Howdy :smilewave So, I'm not very technically gifted - I know my way around a computer and an xbox and that's about it. So, my question is does anyone know anything about VPNs? And more specifically, what one do I get? Long story short, I've moved abroad (Middle East) and all of the sport I like to watch is shown on Sky Sports/BBC and in order to catch up/watch them online I need to be based in the UK. Clearly, I'm a few thousand miles away and I've been told a VPN is the best way to 'lie' about my location. (I think that sounds right?) So, yeah... Can anyone help this technology dumbo?
I'm obviously in the States, and when I've wanted to watch or listen to something from the BBC, I do a search for an web proxy that is in the UK. I've found one that works pretty consistently to access the BBC's IPlayer. daveproxy.co.uk Edit: it looks like that one is down.
I went down the proxy route, but the internet here blocks the majority of the proxy websites (torrent websites too), so I don't think that really works here
Hmm... For a VPN, you'd pretty much need to work with someone in that area, and it'd take some tricks. Most VPN software tends to be configured to send web traffic out your connection instead of via the VPN.
Daaamn. I guess I'll just have to miss my sports, or go back to the UK haha. Thanks for the help though
