It depends what game I'm playing, but I prefer Healing to Tanking mosrly, but I like them both mostly. What about you?
I'm best as a damage dealer on most games. I'm also a decent support/healer and a god-awful tank, so don't ever ask me to tank! Seriously though, I wouldn't touch tanking with a 50-foot pole. :bang:
I mean I was a decent ninja tank, and well I hated dd for some reason. It was straight white Mage and red Mage for me. I could be the main healer and support all at once as a red Mage. Refresh is the stuff...
Tank/DPS for me. It sort of sucks though, because in the freest of RPGs (an extreme rarity now it seems) I tend towards an in-between class with a medium loadout. It killed me the worst in DA2, where I had to choose between a sword-and-shield package deal, or a metal telephone pole that made no tactical sense, at least for a normal human. In my favorite medieval combat game though, Mount & Blade, you have four held equipment slots for whatever you want. My favorite setup was hand-and-a-half sword (usable in two hands for whoopass or one if you wanted a shield), a halberd for siege scenarios (anachronistic I'm told :eek, a short bow, and a quiver. There were few scenarios where I ever felt powerless with that kind of gear.
I usually either go for glass cannon types or supports. MAges have always been my favorite classes and that's generally what they fall under... I can tank, it's just so boooorrrriiiinnnggg. I... Like healing I guess, it just isn't really interesting. You don't do much besides spam the same healing spell and feel under appreciated. But raining fire down from the sky and tossing boulders at people, at knocking back that monster that was about to eat your friend with an arcane bolt. Now that, I like. Generally supports I like too because they have a bit more thought put into them, and can still usually be pretty useful combat wise because they have so many buffs
Ha, I just realized that as an Elvaan, I was able to overheal and draw aggro off of weaker classes because I had huge life and defense and could take a slight beating while things stabilized. A taru white Mage would have been squashed flat.
Same for me, usually healing/support magic or elemental magic if I'm going for a damage class~ For example in FFXIV I play a White Mage~ It really depends on the game. Sometimes I like Gunners, Archers and stuff like that~
Well... in FFXI I was a DD first and Tank when needed... it is not much different in XIV as the only job I don't have past 30 is Conjurer/White Mage, so my only healing option is a 35 Arcanist. So normally I suppose I would fall into the DD/Tank roles best
I originally started out as an Arcanist as I wanted to go Summoner but I feel like healing is what I was born to do xD haha That and so many parties I was in had awful healers that tried to tank and it's like...what? :/ I currently only have 2 battle classes Conjurer, Arcanist. 3 if you count the White mage. Other than that I have a lvl16 Culinary class xD haha
DAMAGE That being said, I like to play a smart damage dealer like a warrior, and not like a theif/assassin that just spam their skills! I also like to play damaging support or area-control, because it has a lot of psychology attached to it and I like playing with the enemy mind and trick them EDIT: I base my answer of Guild Wars mainly
Tank all the way. I love to play with friends. I'm always the heavy badass taking all the hits, While they stay in back.
