A new virus, named 'the Golan virus' has been spreading rapidly around the world. It's mass sent via email and duplicates itself, and attempts to destroy any anti - virus software. It should be deleted as soon as it's received and the email it's usually sent in has the subject 'hi' and body text that reads: "When I saw this screen saver, I immediately thought about you. I am in a harry (sic), I promise you will love it." Its attachment is labelled "gone.scr" So glad I've managed to avoid it so far. Keep an eye out for it and don't be fooled, it sounds pretty frustrating to have the misfortune of getting it.
People still click on links in emails? Download adblocker Download a reputable anti virus Keep your browser, java, operating system, ect up to date Don't click on random stuff
Personally I never would, but some people may be a bit more gullible (although it'd probably be sent to your junk folder anyway, and your email pretty much yells at you not to trust links from people you don't know but meh).
I've stopped worrying about computer viruses since my migration to Elementary OS Luna (Linux-based) since September 2013.
