I was shopping at the local thrift store today looking for records. There were no records, but when I turned the corner I was directly facing a vintage "deluxe" iMac G3. I brought it up to the checkout and tested it... it started up with the iconic (and, for me, nostalgic) startup chime. So I bought it. Upon further examination it also included all of the instruction booklets and receipt (It was purchased 9/14/00 for $1200... but I bought it for $75!). A small tear off the box was also included and gave the specs of the machine. It has 128 MB ram, a 30 GB HDD, and 8 MB of video memory. I'm not sure how practical it is, but it is an interesting computer.
Nice find. I'm sorta looking for one of the iMacs where they switched to the flat panel displays. Would be an interesting contrast to the old world G3 I have sitting on my desk. (I have an old Performa)
I had to let go of my "collection" a year or two ago... I tended to buy used computers to work on, fix, repair, upgrade, and then they would sit in my closet. The got junk people hauled them away.
I've always wanted to buy an Apple Lisa, but I've never seen one for sale and have no clue where I'd put it.
