Editor n chief at Buzzfeed Politics and CEO ( of a yet unnamed company ) tweeted very recently that he intends to fire any and all of his employees who identify as a 'gamer' unless of course they agree to give up video games....unethical much?

    Yes, it's unethical.

As gamers, we're treated with derision we don't deserve. However, this are still problems that some gamers cause for one another, and this is something we could do a better job about dealing with in our own communities.

Gamers are being discriminated against, well they probably deserved it

Also this all ties into the gaming medias smear campaign against the gamer identity. For anyone wondering what it's about.

I am not saying gamers deserve it. And why are you using hash tags on EC? It's not like Twitter and Facebook crawl EC for trends.

That's how it came off. Could totally have been worded better.

How should I have worded it? I need a specific example, given how carefully I need to communicate with you. Despite my efforts to communicate correctly, I seem to be failing.

oh the hashtag was just for a bit of a joke really

Well just wording it in a way that doesn't imply that anyone would deserve to be fired for what their hobbies are would be nice.

Here's the very beginning of what I posted:

    "Yes, it's unethical.

As gamers, we're treated with derision we don't deserve."

Can you help me to understand how I could have been more clear or unequivocal?

I understood pret allez just fine. All she meant was that there are some gamers who are giving the whole a bad rep.

For 1 side of the story go to Kotaku or other gaming journalist publications

for the other side just look up #gamergate on twitter ( sadly our side doesn't get talked about in media at all. We're pretty stand alone at the moment ^^" )

I'm aware. I've been serious about our discussion. The one single thing I wasn't taking serious.

I just want to note I never got an answer or not, but I have reason to believe that this tweet may have been some type of satire.

I believe the editor n chief over at Buzzfeed Politics might have been trying to box gaming journalists into a position where they'd essentially have to either admit they are just full of BS or fire themselves.

    ^

Not certain, but I re-read after the fact and I realized he didn't seem 100% serious, and Buzzfeed does have a bit of a history of doing humours things.

Cna you even legally do that. In the UK there are very strict guidelines about firing people, I believe this would fall under the discrimination category.

How would he know? Sounds like a prank to be honest, especially considering where it's coming from
