So I installed the windows 10 technical preview and upgraded to build 9860
Its like windows 8.1 except better looking and without all the stupid tiles. The apps open on the desktop and the metro interface is much better integrated into the desktop. Its now my primary operating system
    Oh yeah cutting edge (!)

I will probably get it so I can put it as a guest OS in VirtualBox... And I can poke at it cautiously with a 10 ft pole.

Glad that the release version of Windows 8 is finally out.

I guess I should try it out. I really don't care for Windows 8 all that much, even though it is what I use on my desktop computer. If Windows 10 better integrates the two UIs of Windows 8, that would be excellent.

I haven't seen it missing anything. Black bars? I also haven't seen any bugs yet.

MS still hasn't fixed Win 7's issues, let alone Win 8.1... Now Win 10, for a few eye candy tweeks, having to deal with all the problems that will come out of installing a unfinished os, no thanks!

Had it running in VMWare for a few days now. Gotta say, much better than windows 8!
I'm still much preferring OS X Yosemite though.

I have a hackintosh dual booting Windows and Yosemite. The second technical preview was available I installed it, realized it was worse than Windows 8, laughed, then rebooted into Yosemite. Windows 8 doesn't suck. It's just not a UI you're used to.

Build 9879 has some issues but whatever. The consumer preview is coming soon. I'm also looking forward to upgrading my system drive to an ssd

Same here, I got burned by Windows Vista. Then I switched right back to XP. I had 7 for awhile and it was okay, but I eventually switched to Mac before the debacle of Windows 8. All that Windows 10 really means to me is that Mac is going to have to call their next iteration of OSX OS11.

No, it's so bad that they skipped it before even releasing it. On the other hand, that means quality assurance is improving at Microsoft.

One word of warning with using the Windows 10 in the current form is that there may be privacy issues/concerns. I have read articles saying that a lot of information is sent to MS.

Here is one article talking this. Quote from the article:

“When you acquire, install and use the Program, Microsoft collects information about you, your devices, applications and networks, and your use of those devices, applications and networks. Examples of data we collect include your name, email address, preferences and interests; browsing, search and file history; phone call and SMS data; device configuration and sensor data; and application usage,” reads the privacy statement.

No. The PR line, I think, was that 10 is such a great thing that it seemed fitting to skip 9. Or some such thing.

Cynical Thought #1: they are trying to get as far away from Windows ME 2. er, Vista, Second Round, er Windows 8 as they can.

Also: it's been suggested that the "9" might confuse some application software OS version checks. With this problem, the application might think "9" was really "Windows 98" or some such thing.
