That is an episode on Game Theory. Not sure if anyone here follows game theory so I think it is worth sharing. And I would like to see what you have to say on the matter.

I love video games. But there are some trends that really bother me. And this is definitely one of them. And the part where he stated this as one of the reasons gamers can be very narrow minded... He got that right on. Though in some ways, I actually have games to thank for my knowledge and open mindedness. I played Tales of Symphonia at a very early age, and that taught me some some valuable lessons on discrimination and acceptance in general. As well as family. If more games did things like this, but broadened it (Many games do discrimination, but it is usually only for races) then many more gamers will be more open minded I think.

I would like to come up with as many games as we can think of here that shows LGBT in a positive light. The only game I have actually played that does is Persona 4. And that is actually my favorite game of all time. And that is one of the many reasons.

Skyrim! It shows that as bigoted and dumb the Nords are they still support gay marriage!

Most games don't have any lgbt characters. Which is saddening.....

I'm pretty sure the Dragon Age series does. Bioware are usually good for that.

Yeah. I never actually played any Bioware games. I do really like RPGs though. I dunno. Maybe I'll play them sometime.

And off topic: your signature is awesome. That Alan Moore quote. Omg I love it.

I liked how both of the bisexual characters in Dragon Age Origins seemed to prefer women when they usually get stereotyped of being straight women/gay men in denial. I thought Leliana was an awesome character.

The sims isn't really a game with a story, but It's also one that allows more freedom with LGBT pairings; you can create a gay couple, make them fall in love, get married, and adopt children. It was a step up from the sims 2 where they called it 'civil unions' which changed to marriage in 3.

Aw, you really should give them a try one day. I haven't played much of Mass Effect either but the Dragon Age series is like seriously good.

And thanks! I used to live in the town where he's from as well. People who didn't like his writing tended to get generation-spanning curses placed on them.

I love game theory and all, but they kinda fucked up with explaining actual transgender people. Big time really and it makes me so sad because it was a great opportunity to spread some knowledge on the subject.

In Skyrim, my character is this badass Nord woman who participated in the destruction of the Stormcloacks ('cuz fuck racists anyway). She is married to Brelyna Maryon.

There was a game by Rock Star (I believe) called Bully, where you could make-out with other guys. It was a pretty good game, but I had it on the wii, so I hated playing it because of the controller.

And then there is GTA: The Ballad of Gay Tony. Not really portrayed in a positive light at all, but I thought he was an interesting character.

Yeah, Vivian was transgender in the original Japanese version of the game, but the overseas releases removed that from the game.

Anyways, yeah, LGBT characters are almost never represented in games, which is frustrating, but it is getting better. There are more and more games that are allowing same-sex marriage (like the Fable games and Skyrim), and LGBT characters are occurring in games more frequently now. Still, it's not perfect, but it is something.

The video seems to imply that all transgender people are drag queens. That and he calls Vivian, a transwoman character "he", which is pretty disappointing.
