    This made my day.

Basically, a security researcher records the entire call he gets from a scammer claiming to be with Microsoft support.

The scam is complete with attempt to bamboozle non-technical users and getting the user to download a version of remote desktop software that is out of date.

Hah. That is amazing. Kind of wish he has a throw away computer with nothing important on it to see what the scammer do next with access.

Funny thing that I used to help my internet friend with computer problems using almost the same method though: remote control and things. They never know me irl and did not even know my face, yet they let me mess around in their computer full of personal information.
Though, at least I have been friend with them for long enough that maybe it warrant for some trust.

Should never trust a strange voice on a phone or a strange email, however.

Well, this was on a VM, so it was pretty much a throwaway to begin with.
