Well, I am a massive geek and have a quasi-obsession with table top games. From Call of Cthulu to Munchkin, I love it. I have run into a few individuals over the year who have voiced their orientation at a game table, and it's always fun to know that there are other geeks with those interests. Just checking to see if there's any more LGBTabler toppers out there!

Magic the Gathering and Pokemon are the only Table top games I've layed. But I am dying to learn how to play D and D.

    (I suck at Pokemon Cards)

But I have created 2 boardgames. Plains VS Forest (for kids) and Tribal Annihilation (for young adults).

    Favourites have to be:
    Board Game Wise-
    Cosmic Encounters
    Last Night On Earth
    Pandemic
    The Resistance

    Roleplaying Wise-
    Dungeons and Dragons 3.5
PATHFINDER (My personal all time favourite)
    Call of Cthulu
    Numenara

I was also very much into MTG a while back, was focused on Blue-Black-Red EDH, if that makes sense. How about you guys, any favored games?

I am obsessed with Pandemic, I have all the expansions and the dice game (which is surprisingly awesome).

[Not my copy, but just to show the board to those who aren't familiar]

I also really enjoy Forbidden Desert/Island, Cosmic Encounter, Eldritch Horror, War of the Ring (big LOTR fan), One Night Ultimate Werewolf (I really recommend this one if you like Resistance), Shadows Over Camelot, Ticket to Ride and King of Tokyo.

(See, I told you I liked games!)

Ah, familiar with quite a few of those!
Just recently picked up the In The Lab expansion for Pandemic, and it's so much fun.

I own Forbidden Island, quite a bit of fun on higher difficulties.
Ticket to Ride is always fun since it's so easy to pick up, especially, I believe, the Nordic expansion.

I've been told several times to check out Shadows Over Camelot, yet haven't gotten around to it as of yet.

Yes! I agree with everything you just said. Forbidden Island can get a bit easy, but I would heartily recommend Forbidden Desert. It fills that middle ground of difficulty between Forbidden Island and Pandemic. It's simpler to learn than Pandemic, but there are a lot more possibilities for strategy than Forbidden Island. It's certainly different enough to warrant a purchase.

Also, have you seen the new Pandemics in the pipeline? There's a new Pandemic expansion with animals ( !) and Pandemic: Legacy, a game that you can only complete once (over several play sessions- the entire "campaign" should take about a month) with surprise plot twists along the way.

I was talking to a close friend of mine about it yesterday actually! I'm a little bit worried that the animal strain will end up just being a mirror of the mutation strain, however I'm sure they'll make in interesting, none the less. The campaign seems interesting, especially with the new emerging trend of legacy games, such as the legacy version of Risk, where games affect future games. Did you enjoy the bioterrorist game mode?

Agreed, it does sound a bit Mutation-ey but I'm sure Matt & Tom can be trusted to make something awesome! Meh, I'm not a massive fan of the Bio-terrorist game mode- it's a little like Scotland Yard. Not that I have anything against Scotland Yard, I actually quite enjoy it. I just think that Pandemic's strengths are in it's co-op.

Like I said before, I do also recommend the Dice Game. At first I was skeptical but it's actually a nice twist on the game.

I completely agree! Cooperative is something that seems to be reoccurring few and far between when it comes to board games, which I completley understand as competition often sparks fun. Thus, why I enjoy mansions of madness and last night on earth so much, a blend of cooperative and a large opposing force, you can blend the elements very harmoniously. I should probably just do the research myself, but what does the dice game add?

Warhammer 40K always looked interesting to me, However, my wallet already hurts my addiction enough with Games Workshop taking a walk at it too, haha.

It doesn't so much add, but it uses new mechanics to make a shorter, condensed version of Pandemic. I thought this would mean that it's just "simpler" but that's not actually true: it's still really tough and takes strategy. However, using your strategies from the "big" game won't work - you have to develop new ones for the dice game. Which I quite enjoyed! Plus, the 30 minute play time doesn't hurt when you're trying to convince non-gamers to join in.

Anyway, I'm going to stop rambling now because I'm totally hijacking this thread.

Let the fellow LGBT+ Tabletoppers come forth! :icon_bigg

I had no idea there's an expansion for that! Loved that game.

Eyyy! I've played pretty much every iteration of D&D (except 5e but I'm starting that next week), 7th Sea, and I'm a huge Pathfinder fan.

Nordic Countires is actually a different, independent game in the style of Ticket to Ride: Europe (my personal favourite!). But there are loads of board and card expansions for Ticket to Ride: including India and Africa.

Wow this thread dripping with Spartan Geekyness.

I love tabletop games. Dungeons and Dragons in any form is my favorite.

For board style games I like scrabble, cluedo, monopoly and risk. Other than Turkish scrabble and cluedo I am not good at risk and monopoly.

Hmm if you count my usual betrayal politics as a success yeah I am very good at Risk as well.

Dungeons & Dragons (despite the few times I've played it)
Monopoly (gets boring fast, but it's fun while it lasts)
Mouse Trap (I wind up playing with the trap more than the game)
Axis & Allies (played one serious game, sadly, the rest were more or less experimenting)
Sorry! (bumping people around is pretty fun)

Magic: The Gathering and the Poke'mon card game are, both, fun too, even if I have not played in years. Even then, I was never too serious with Magic, but years ago, I was decent in Poke'mon.

    And then, there's Risk...

    Come at me, LOL.
