Gyarados

It's kicked my butt too many times in-game despite its 4x electric weakness for me to feel anything for it but grudging respect and a little exasperation v_v It probably doesn't help that I often use non-competitive Pokemon with low BST

 

I like it.

Probably in my Top 30 Poke'mon.

Never had a major problem with it, in battle. It's a fun Poke'mon to use, though, especially with Dragon Dance boosting it's already decent Attack and Speed.

Mega-Gyarados looks cool, but I'm not too fond of Mega-Evolutions in general.

 

It's one of my favorite Gen 1 Pokemon. My friends tell me it looks like a penis. And I always ask them, what kind of penises they're talking about.

It's good, probably my second favorite water Pokemon. Lapras comes first.

 

Not as good as Haunter, but probably one of my top 15!

The irony goes even further when you consider their typing.

Blaziken is a Fire/Fighting-type, while Gyarados is a Water/Flying-type. Fire is weak to Water, and Fighting is weak to Flying.

Perhaps it is admiration for this fierce dragon?

 

Design wise... 9/10

The Magikarp to Gyarados evolution has always been connected with never giving up topics. It is cool to see how a wimpy Magikarp can be a badass Gyarados when you dont give up in working for it.


Battle-wise... 4/10

Gyarados isnt given a good Flying STAB move. Tho he is beefy enough to survive some electric attacks. Mega Gyarados also didnt got any decent Dark STAB move.

 

A 4, golgari? That's a bit... low.

I'd say battle-wise, it's at least a 6:

It has access to Earthquake, which can take out Rock or Electric-types that could beat it, which is VERY possible with Dragon Dance, another reason to bump him up, as it boosts both Attack and Speed.

While it isn't the best, Bounce isn't bad for a Flying-type move.

Problem is, it depends too much on getting that Dragon Dance off. Not being able to leaves it open, as most Electric Poke'mon can tie or out speed him, thus killing Gyarados.

Maybe I'll create the ultimate Gyarados, just for you! LOL.

 

Gyarados is OU, and there are good OU Pokemon counters for him. He has no match with Thundurus and Rotom-W. And Mega evolving him would only give him more weaknesses. I think 6 is a bit high for him. Tho I will give him a clap for his ability, Intimidate. It is very useful now since there are LOTS of physical attackers now in OU. So maybe we can meet at 5/10? :lol:

Bulky Gyarados is the best kind of Gyarados. This makes me think perhaps some of us should get together on Pokemon Showdown or something and really show our stuff!

I love Gyarados but it crushed me when I raised a Magikarp from level 5 or so to its evolution and then found out there was a shiny one T.T Why??? How can I choose??

 

That awkward moment when a Pokemon can't learn any moves that are one of its types... :c

 

Bounce! It's an egg move, and it's rubbish... But some people use it. I had a Mega Gyarados in the 1st part of this fanmade game. It was soooo coool....
