Hacking Team, the Italy based "lawful intercept" company that sells exploit technology to government police and intelligence agencies, itself suffered a breach for just over 400GB of data, including source code. These people are complete scumbags who sell technology to just whoever, not caring what government's hands their software ends up in. They sell to such human rights violators as Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Lebanon, and Mongolia. It is my firm belief as a software developer that our professional ethics bind us not to help people who try to do harm when they are known to be fundamentally malicious. These folks just wanted the money. That's sick. Software development should be about attacking oppressors and improving quality of life for everyone, not about making a quick dollar. So, they deserve it. I hope they have no possibility of mitigation.
