I'm addicted to buying from Etsy! The most important thing when "shopping around" is to read the reviews, a lot of them. As much as there are some lovely items, there are equally some crappy items as well.
Bought a belt that I'd probably never use. Etsy stuff is expensive (the belt cost 60 bucks--not my best buy), and you have to make sure you'll use what you buy (unlike me ) and check the sizes for clothes.
There is some good stuff on Etsy. I would just be sure to be reviews of the seller before buying anything. There are some sellers that are better than others. I would also make sure that you cannot get what you are looking for in other places cheaper. I would also check to make sure that they ship to different countries, because there are some sellers that do not do that.
I've checked it out several times but moneys. Seriously though as cool as some of that stuff is, it's really hard to justify the pricing...
Hmm cool. I saw some of the cool things there and I'm considering buying some of their stuff. I assume they're good in quality if it's from a top seller? (Because good artists actually care about their work) Should i be aware of possible scammers? ---------- Post added 11th Aug 2015 at 06:27 PM ---------- Oh wow! I looked at a pencil made out of recycled newspapers. I would be afraid to use them, they're pretty and so unique I would be sad looking at them shrinking.
You should always be aware of the possibility of scammers. As others said, read the reviews--good and bad to get a feel for the kind of complaints. Pay attention to what your gut says.
My mother uses it to sell crafts, but mostly baby booties she makes herself. That's all the experience I have with that site.
Too expensive, I can find cheaper things on eBay and in antique stores. I do enjoy browsing, however. Especially for old dolls.
Just bought these Mary Jane slipper socks. https://www.etsy.com/listing/160188730/knit-slipper-sock-adult-maryjane-slipper?ref=related-5 Also got https://www.etsy.com/listing/227964...y&ga_search_query=simka sol&ref=sr_gallery_30 Although I know the designer personally for the dress and got a good deal on it.
I like etsy~~ they have a lot of... hmm... "interesting" stuff... but they also have a lot of awesome stuff, too ^.^ I've gotten some jewelry off of there and I've been really pleased ^.^
You can find bits and pieces by googling (or in this article about the closing of the site) but the promised archive doesn't seem to exist. My favorite thing about the site was how it showcased genuinely horrible things, or items that people claimed were made by them but were actually mass produced things that could easily be bought for far cheaper somewhere else, basically calling out etsy over and over for its horrible policies that were inconsistent or hypocritical. I can't resist anyone calling someone out on their BS. The article also mentions paypal getting called out by the lady who ran the regretsy website. And it's the lady who made it so funny---she found the weird items and wrote some of the funniest comments about them I've ever read. So so funny. Luckily there is a book called "Regretsy: Where DIY Meets WTF", out of print it seems but cheap on Amazon, or you can see if a local library has it. I haven't read it but I think I'll check it out now.
I've not bought anything yet, but recently I've been looking at alot of NES and SNES games and Etsy has been a site that pops up quite frequently. I found the original metroid for £15 on there! Hell yeah!
I don't think so, it redirects to a website with the name of the lady who used to run regretsy. I know she got tired of running the website, I guess she got tired of having the archive too?
