I recently got my old hunk-o'-junk PlayStation 2 fully working again, as it was having issues reading the memory card in the first card slot, among other things. This makes me really happy, as it's my favorite console I have right now. I have a lot of consoles in my collection, from all the old Nintendo consoles except for Wii, a 3DS, All PlayStation consoles except for PSP, PS3 and Vita, the Atari 2600 and Atari 7800, and even an obscure console from 1974 that still works, the Fairchild Channel F. Out of all those consoles (about 14 in all, including handhelds), My favorite will always be my beloved PlayStation 2. It launched the 6th generation of consoles in 2000-2001, and holds some of my absolute favorite games on it. A lot of the games I have for the console sparked my interest in large quantities of music, as before I got my PS2, I was only listening to video game soundtracks, the two most prominent series that sparked such interest in me being Grand Theft Auto and Guitar Hero. These are the games for the PS2 I have at the moment:

(✞ = one of my favorites)

    • Grand Theft Auto III✞
    • Max Payne
    • Silent Hill 2✞
    • Devil May Cry
    • Resident Evil: Code Veronica X
    • Star Trek: Voyager: Elite Force
    • Star Wars: Starfighter
    • Grand Theft Auto: Vice City✞
    • Silent Hill 3✞
    • Katamari Damacy✞
    • Devil May Cry 2
    • Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas✞
    • Star Wars: Battlefront
    • Killzone
    • Silent Hill 4: The Room
    • Mortal Kombat: Deception
    • Shellshock: Nam '67
    • Guitar Hero✞
    • Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening: Special Edition
    • Call of Duty 2: Big Red One
    • Megaman X Collection
    • Call of Duty 3: Special Edition
    • Black
    • Star Wars: The Force Unleashed✞
    • Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories✞
    • Star Wars: Battlefront II
    • Burnout: Revenge
    • Guitar Hero II✞
    • Gran Turismo 4
    • Guitar Hero: Encore: Rocks The 80s✞
    • Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories✞
    • Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock✞
    • Singstar '80s
    • Guitar Hero: World Tour✞
    • Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures
    • AC/DC Live: Rock Band Track Pack✞
    • Queen Singstar
    • Ghostbusters: The Video Game

So, what is your favorite old school console, and what are your favorite games for it?

YUS! You too? I still have my handheld gameboy. It was used when I first got it, and has scratches all over. I keep all the games and the Gameboy in a case. The games are really really old. The Gameboy was the only thing close to a DS that I could get to. I've had for years now, and I still play it sometimes, hehe~

List of the games I have for it:
    ( * is how much I like it )

    ~ Mouse Trap Hotel
    ~ Donkey Kong Land
~ Disney's Atlantis The Lost Empire
    ~ Disney's Chicken Little
~ The PowerPuff Girls Paint the Townsville Green *
    ~ Romstar - Mr. Chin's Gourmet Paradise
~ Superman Returns Fortress of Solitude
    ~ Super Mario Land *
~ Super Mario World Super Mario Advance 2 *

Makes me feel old  But considering my age, that's old (console wise) for me too.

I want to either say gameboy colour or gamecube.

I only played blue/yellow on the colour, but I spent so many hours playing and those games honestly made me so happy, that I feel it deserves a spot.

Then the gamecube. I enjoyed a larger variety of games on it :')

I remember the Gamecube! I loved it so much, besides my Gameboy. My neighbor had one before he got a Wii, and he let me play on it all the time. Though, I had a Wii at my house. I liked playing on the Gamecube better, because it had good quality. Legend of Zelda was one of my favorites at the time. I think we played The Legend Of Zelda: Majora's Mask. I can't remember, all I know is that it had a creepy moon thing.

Now you guys are making me regret giving my Gameboy away TnT

Either Gameboy or the original Nintendo DS, or maybe it was the DS after that that could have a game card and a gameboy slot? Idk, it was when I was like eight coz I accidently broke it by playing too much XD

I still remember when we got our Playstation 1 and it was like a new world. I couldn't even believe what amazing things you could conjure up on that tv screen. It was easily the gaming platform that influenced me the most as a child.

    Tombi 1 & 2
    Ape Escape
Crash Bandicoot 1, 2 & 3 (these games were my childhood)
    Spyro
    Tekken 3
    Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee
    Rayman
    Tony Hawks Pro Skater
    Croc 1 & 2

Just thinking about all of these games makes me so happy and nostalgic. So many amazing memories!

EDIT: I almost forgot about gameboy. I mean pokemon.. omg.

I think as far as what I personally enjoyed playing on, probably N64. Had a lot of great games, awesome advancements in video game tech, plus cartridges are a better experience for me. If these even count as retro, I did play a lot of GameCube and PS2 in elementary/middle school. Special fondness for NES, even though I didn't grow up with one, for the 8-bit soundtracks.

    This.
Plus, love for the Gameboy Advance.

I hope Nintendo eventually releases a console more like the lovely Gamecube.
...And it gets an open world Pokémon game on it. Damn, that would be heaven.

N64. So many great games, and the last console to use cartridges. The weird controller, I love it.

Personally, I'd say anything beyond the PlayStation 1 isn't old school. It's old, yes, but it'll be another gaming generation before, in my opinion, they can be grouped into that.

The Super Nintendo or Nintendo 64 will always have a special place in my heart. As will the PlayStation 2, but I'm not going to count that as old school. Maybe when the PlayStation 5 comes out, I will.

I have two all time favs: Nes & N64

NES has great games like Mario Bros, Mega Man, TMNT and Chip & Dale's Rescue rangers.
I have great memories of renting those games when I was younger, and I absolutely still love those games to this day.

N64, I loved Mario 64, Maro Kart, 007, Perfect Dark, Smash Bros and Zelda.

Those two are my absolute Favs but I also love my gamecube too because of all the resident evil games, and Zelda Twilight Princess

    I loved Nintendo 64.
Donkey Kong, Mario, Zelda: Ocarina of time, etc.
I didn't have one myself, so I only got to play when I was at my friend's house.

I also liked the ps1 although I never had one for myself.

Other than that, there's the SNES, which had a lot of fun games like Yoshi, Toy Story, some Donkey Kong game, and some Mario game.
