    Only vaguely related to this section but oh well. I know the inventor who made them pronounces it "Jif" but I'm interested on how you pronounce it and what you think.

    So how do you pronounce it personally, and what do you think?

    Hard "G" for Gif. It stands for "Graphics Interchange Format" so it's only natural to use the same sound. And we already have Jif; it's peanut butter.

    I say "jif" because "gif" sounds too much like "gift" to me XD;;;

    Me: You found a gift??
    Friend: ...???

    Gif! The american J sound doesn't even exist in very many languages, so it's more international friendly to say Gif.

    I know it's supposed to be pronounced Jif, but I say Gif. It stands for Graphics Interchange Format. Graphics is pronounced with the G, like the word good.

    Gif.

    Saying Jif reminds me of that damned cleaning fluid before it got renamed.

    Gif.
    Jif is a brand of lemon juice, not an image file.

    It is spelt like Giff (Ghih-ff) so I pronounce it as such.

    Ah the good old "jiffy lemon". Now that is pronounced Jiff (Jih-ff), quite rightly.

    There used to also be Jif household cleaner (also pronounced Jiff), until apparently people in the global market (I'm looking at you Spanish speaking people!) couldn't pronounce it (instead saying "Siff") so they changed it to Cif!

    On that side subject I've no idea why Walkers are called "Lays" and Lynx is called "Axe" worldwide - lays sounds too complacent, and lynxes are surely cooler than axes? Is it because Americans call lynx "bobcats"? Surely that cannot be it, its not like Britain even has lynxes (under any name) and from the smell on public transport it hasn't harmed sales one bit!
