Since our thread from yesterday disappeared I thought I'd recreate it! How's everyone with the game enjoying it so far?

    I'm in love with it.

I've only played a few hours so far but it's quickly becoming one of my favorite games ever! I'm thoroughly enjoying the settlement building thing. It's a time consuming yet really fun waste of time

Waiting for more mods to appear, so I don't have to replay the whole thing once an awesome mod comes out, especially char creation mods.

They're fine; it's an extremely complicated mechanic in the first place.

My biggest issue with the game so far is that V-sync is forced, so if you have V-sync enabled on your GPU control panel like me, it gets applied twice and murders your framerate. Fortunately I found a way to disable it and it's a lot smoother now.

I wish I wasn't broke so I could buy this and be broke again.

Sorta wish they had a hair length slider though, so it can flow behind me gracefully as I go around punching idiot raiders with a power fist.

At the same time I wonder if there are lab coats and recharger rifles, I always felt like a mad scientist running around blasting everything like a maniac. Good clean fun for the whole family.

I know for sure there are lab coats. I think any energy weapon fulfills the whole mad scientist image.

Already stumbled into bugs and weird design choices but overall its a really fine game.

    Some tip regarding settelments :
Crafting things destroy items with multiple crafting materials and only use one of the crafting materials !!! (oversight by bethesda ?). you can overcome it by dropping them down, and going to the settelment menu (hold V) and then break the item this way, to send the materials to the settelment crafting station (u can take things from there by using the "transfer" option).
This is annoying to do but at least when u drop stuff they stay stacked ... :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

The game doesn't even detect my GPU, lol. I have to manually set all options to Ultra. Yes, I agree with the V-sync thing and to enable 60 fps... Locking a game at 30 fps is just stupid.

The only thing that really bothers me about building is the over-eager snap mechanic (will snap to something totally different or something like 2 feet away when you're trying to keep them separate) and the unforgiving collision. Sometimes I'd like parts to clip inside one another to make more interesting designs. But they mostly don't, leaving you to make quite crude structures sometimes even for being made out of metal siding, etc. Because if you can't build things too close because they clip and can't build them far enough away because it snaps to something else, you have somewhat few options.

But I'm happy to say I still managed my 4-story junk castle in Sanctuary.

To be fair, the V-sync is locked because the engine physics is tied to the framerate. If you play the game at framerates higher than its capability, the physics start getting really wonky. Skyrim had the same issue.

I built a bar/lounge area and everybody actually uses it.

There's a nice configuration tool that was released over at the Nexusmod site for PC gamers if anyone's interested

This is the first game I've played since coming out. I was thinking it would be great if there were a same-sex couple option during the initial mirror/character design UX. Great nerdy fun otherwise

Considering that in Fallout's universe, society haven't moved much from the 1950s mindset before the nuclear war happened, that is kind of impossible. But...you can still go on playing your character however you like later.

Think of it as your character being forced into society's expectation back then, but when society has been nuked to hell, your character is now actually free from such things, and can finally be who they want to be. Great roleplay potential there.
